Next Day

Narine-Boodhoo—one of the operators of vehicle supplies outlet Autorama Ltd—returned to her home around 4 a.m.

Head of the North Eastern Division Senior Supt Mervyn Edwards visited Narine-Boodhoo’s home yesterday at Girez Lane, off El Socorro Main Road.

He told reporters only that she was “safe and no ransom had been paid”.
Police said last night that no one has been held in connection with her kidnapping.

Businesswoman taken home to collect ransom $$$, suspect held, and later charged by police.
At around 7:50 am 29.12.23 Anesha Boodhoo, age 47yrs of Lp 55 Girez Lane, El Socorro, Indo-Trinidadian, a housewife, 5ft 4 inches tall, slim built, brown complexion, short greying hair, slim face with a mole on the right cheek, left her residence clad in a brown dress driving her husbands’ white Toyota Prado SUV, registration number PDL 4552 to drop keys for their business place Autorama Parts Limited located at the corner of Byer Singh and El Socorro Main Road, when a black Toyota Rush Registration number PDY 1325 caused the said white Prado to stop by use of siren and blue flashing lights.
Three men exited the said vehicle and forced the victim into the said black Toyota Rush SUV, registration number PDY 1325, and made their escape along El Socorro Main Road in a southerly direction.

Later, a multi-pronged approach was coordinated by the Commissioner of Police Mrs. Earla Christopher which included the Anti-kidnapping Unit, the NED Operations and CID, the Research and Analytical Unit, the C.S.M.U, the Homicide Bureau of Investigations, the offices of the ACP,s Criminal and Tactical Divisions, the Strategic Services Agency, the Legal Officer Asp Teesdale, SIU and other internal stakeholders within the TTPS.

As a consequence, extensive and painstaking enquiries were conducted with the assistance of the aforementioned entities. On Tuesday 2nd January 2024, at around 3:00 a.m., the informant Neel Boodoo received information that his wife Aneesha Boodhoo was outside his residence with a man, namely Jason Brown aka Abdul Karim. The informant subsequently confirmed the said information, and the hostage was let into the compound and taken to a safe place inside the premises. She was subsequently taken to seek medical attention. Jason Brown aka Abdul Karim was subsequently arrested and taken to the Barataria Police Station to be lodged for safekeeping.

Interviews were conducted, and statements were recorded, as well as technological data analyzed. Subsequently, an audience was held with the Director of Public Prosecution, Mr. Roger Gaspard, perused the collated evidence before him and he advised that the accused Jason Brown, aka Abdul Karim be charged for the offence of Knowingly Negotiating a Ransom.

On Sunday 7th January 2024, No. 18580 Cpl Blake continued enquires and formally charged ‘JASON BROWN’ also called ‘Abdul Karim’ for the offence of Knowingly Negotiating a Ransom. Date of hearing, Monday 8th January, 2024 at the Port-of-Spain Magistrate’s Court.

This investigation was directly supervised by Acp Butler, Snr Supt Edwards, Snr Supt Ramjohn, Asp Ramdass, Asp Callender, Insp Phillip, Insp Ramsingh, W/Sgt Rivers, and Cpl Ramcharan.

Jason brown and his Muslim clique have been trying to tax the business people of aranguez and el socorro for years. Telling them their businesses would be burnt down and families attacked if they don't pay. The main drug dealer in aranguez opposed him and I believe sent a few grenades into his mosque and warned him that the people in the area were under his protection.
