Well the fabricators already finished the roof and we paid a ton of money to them so was looking for a quick easy solution which would be beneficial to the plants. Plus my dad don't want the see throught sheeting as we have experienced the fact that its not as durable as metal and becomes brittle after a year or two. Do u think the fluorescent light would work?

Could someone recommend a powerful pump for me to pump water from a barrel outside/downstairs to my aquarium upstairs?

I getting fed up of using a bucket.

I had the same problem with changing out water in my tank upstairs. I change out 50gal every 3 wks and I get great results with a Danner Magdrive 18. (1800gal) Its hooked up to a normal garden hose. Never checked exactly how long it takes to pump the 50 gals but my whole water change exercise (take out hoses, syphon out water from sump, hook up pump, pump water upstairs, pack back equipment, etc ) takes less than 25min.

If it's a unified sump system try to get around a 6 times turn over per hour. 3/4'' bulkheads require 1 1/2'' diamond bits I think. Make sure to calculate the pumps' power at the 5ft head range.

Guys,

Can anyone advise on the filter cartridge system with UV lights if they are effective or use a separate UV light.

I am setting up a 4ft X 18" X 18" indoor and would like to minimise algae growth as I cannot block out all the window/sunlight.

The canisters with the uv usually do a decent job, stay away from the hobs with uv. Best thing to do is run an external uv on a separate pump at the recommended gph to maximise its effectiveness.

You guys use any medicated food for your koi? If so where sells them?

I have a small koi pond, one of the koi seems to have a bacterial infection.

Also any tips on dealing with it?

Depending on what it looks like you can remove the koi and treat it in a holding tank. Methylene blue works for anything my fish ever got.A bit of salt works great too.
