Any ideas when the OTA update fro Digicel's Galaxy S3 will be coming> the one to enable using two apps in the same window.

GameStick brings a new Android game console to your TV, fits inside its own controller

Image

OUYA likely won't be the only Android-based game console in town this spring. PlayJam is going beyond its smart TV roots to build the GameStick, a TV-based system that fits into a shell not much bigger than a typical flash drive -- it's small enough that the finished version should stow inside its own Bluetooth gamepad and draw power from the HDMI port, like Roku's Streaming Stick. The Jelly Bean system's dual-core Amlogic processor isn't as powerful as the Tegra 3 in the OUYA, but it should also lead to a slightly more tempting $79 price. PlayJam's remaining challenge is the familiar one of reaching a crowdfunding target: the company says it needs $100,000 to go through its last development hurdles and ship the production GameStick in April. If the firm makes its goal, however, the low-cost gaming world will be delightfully crowded this year.

seriously tho. i think android really has a chance at taking a significant market share from sony/ xbox etc. the flexibility, the performance and solid graphics together with stability could be a heavy blow if they get into high end consoles. xbox would lose to their paid subscription online service and playstation would lose on backward compatibility and their penance for modifying ur console.

if android gets into high end graphics ill definitely give their console a shot.

Nah I doubt. But even self. People only buy PS because it was out the longest. Xbox is the better gaming system and ps3 still outsold it even tho its boring as a yaris.

the jb version not stable yet so holding off on updating for now cause i want stability over anything else.

Took a shot at it. Installed Paranoid Android and it really is running even smoother now. I'll probably miss a few Samsung Apps but it's ok in turn for the smoothness.

hope not a repost:

http://www.ouya.tv/devs/

Ouya's console, which was opened up for preorders earlier this week and hits wide retail availability in June, is running the Tegra 3 processor. However, the Tegra 4 is right around the corner. Each year, new and better processors are made available, and the console's Android-based gaming could do well with better chips.............

Wow those graphics look solid. it's inexpensive high end portable gaming. not powerful enough yet tho to compete with ps3 and xbox. but ill be looking to see how this develops. hoping droid 5 has tegra 4 lol

In the market for a phone and it came down to another android.
Looking at the S3, buh da phone real big jed!!!
Anyone uses an S3 mini that failed at something where the S3 would handle fine?
I read a bit and watched vids and the mini browsed around just as fast as the S3, despite having 1/2 the ram, 1/2 the cores and less cycles. Don't care for the camera difference much. Played with a mini in Digicel today and I'm satisfied. It's just that creeping feeling that it's a dumbed down version and would disappoint someday.

The S3 just looks big, i got accustom to the screen size very fast. if you planning on browsing or reading (like news on flipboard) often, then the S3 is better. how much is the price difference between a S3 and a Mini?
