The United States is suspending funding to the World Health Organization while the Trump administration studies what Donald Trump called the group's "disasterous" role in "covering up" the outbreak of the coronavirus in China, the president announced Tuesday evening.
"The reality is the WHO failed to obtain, vet and share information in a timely fashion," Mr Trump said. "The WHO failed in its basic duty and must be held accountable."

I remember hearing about people dying from the flu around Mid-January 2020. I am also hearing that doctors are claiming that there was a spike in flu cases late last year.
BTW, this is not a claim I am making, just asking a question based on information I got from reliable persons.
I was in Miami in November and while there I had ague , fever, serious breathing problems and had to be hospitalised when I returned to Trinidad at the end of November . I was on antibiotics and IV for more than a week . The first one didn't work and they had to use Zithromax before I got any relief . The first doctor I saw on my return said it was pneumonia . You have me wondering now what it really was .
never got a fever like that before, very high temp & extremely weakening
and as fast as it came it just left :/

Is he not now supposed to be transferred to a 'step-down' facility?

Coming to think of it... I was in Orlando last November 25th and got a very bad flu, fever, fatigue etc. Ended up with a serious chest pain when coughing.... had real mucus. When I came back home I literally had to push my hand down my throat and pull out a handful of green mucus... in order to breathe

Updated at 7.25 pm on April 14, 2020
Defence attorney and former United National Congress (UNC) Senator Gerald Ramdeen has written a pre-action protocol letter to the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) demanding the release of Ian Alleyne.
Alleyne, the host of the popular television programme Crime Watch, was quarantined at the Caura Hospital on March 24, 2020, after testing positive for COVID-19.
Ramdeen said his client was tested on March 21, 2020, after he insisted on being sampled following his recent trip to Miami. However, Alleyne had failed to self-isolate for the 14-day period as advised by the Government on his return.
The lawyer said Alleyne was subsequently contacted by the Minister of Health who told him police was being sent to arrest him. The television host then reached out to his attorney and vowed to comply with the instructions given by Deyalsingh and the CMO.
In petitioning for his release, the attorney said Alleyne was tested on four separate occasions while at the Caura Hospital. The first was inconclusive, second positive and last two negative.
"On 29th March, 2020 my client was tested for the presence of the virus Covid-19. On the 31st March, 2020 my client was informed that the test that was taken was compromised. No explanation was provided to my client as to how this was possible."
"On the 8th April, 2020 my client was the subject of another test for the presence of the Covid-19 virus. My client was informed on the 9th April 2020 that the result of the test was that my client was positive. My client requested to have sight of the test results and was informed that the results were always oral."
"On 11th April, 2020 my client was the subject of another test for the presence of the Covid-19 virus. On the 13th April, 2020 my client was informed that the result of the test was negative. On the said 13th April 2020 my client was administered another test for the presence of the Covid-I9 virus. My client was informed today that the result of that test was negative."
According to guidelines from the World Health Organisation (WHO) a clinically recovered COVID-19 patient should test negative for the virus twice, with tests conducted at least 24 hours apart before being discharged from the hospital.
Speaking with Loop News, Ramdeen confirmed his client received release forms after the issuance of the pre-action protocol letter. He also revealed that two other pre-action letters were sent, including one on behalf of a minor, to the CMO and the Director of the Caura Hospital. The lawyer further stated that the Ministry of Health has no lawful authority to hold people at the facility once they test twice negative for COVID-19.
Despite receiving discharge papers, Alleyne remains at the facility.
