What you can also do is after a couple mths you are in doubt about your cartridges, do a phosphate test on the water before the DI.
To get a gauge on figures, do 3 phosphate tests, and keep the readings handy
1) your tap water
2) your water after RO
2) your water after DI

yea Ill run some valves an use RO for my koi pond. The testing of the water is also a good idea... will do that.
Ill also hook up a ATO system one time... where can I get the float valve for the sump ? Raj ?

I dont believe in float valves. Had one stick early on with my tank. It was to dose 1/2-3/4gal per day which usually take under 5min. Came home one day and it had now started dosing, when i do check, 20min after it was still dosing. If i didnt come home that day it would of dosed my 6.5gal RO water into my tank. I would not use one of those again. What i did was calculate how much water evaporates from my tank on a daily basis, and set my pump on a timer to dose for a particular time. I prefer that instead. Raj have the floats.
This works like a dream.

I haven't bought as yet as I am still in the planning stages of my new LED build so I am not sure. Also don't use timers, look into a controller. My plan is to use my Apex with these drivers. The problem is that the Apex puts out a 0-10V signal and the LDD uses a PWM signal. The plan is to get a PWM harness from SteveLED's which converts 0-10V to PWM.

Look into an Arduino build, you can do some really cool things with them.

Led Group Buy has them for $6.85 http://www.ledgroupbuy.com/meanwell-ldd ... ed-driver/

Also I found this power supply on powergatellc, it should be able to power at least 6 LDD drivers at 1000ma http://www.powergatellc.com/mean-well-s ... upply.html

Fishman am gonna check out that thread on RC, I already own an Arduino so just need to write some code for the PWM dimming.

Yeah the Arduino's are pretty cool. I have always wanted to try one!

^^ or you can can run a setup like I do with the timer and float switch in series and set the timer to just above your evaporation rate so if the float switch sticks on the timer will prevent an overfill and if you hit the on button on your timer by mistake or it fails on the float switch would stop the pump at the desired water level.

I like how Ziggy system sounding....one backing up the other incase of failure.

See I have my RODI unit right behind my tank, my rodi unit also has a pressure tank that stores about 3 gallons on 7psi, I could always use a valve and break down the pressure but I was hoping to advantage this and work somthing instead of using the JBJ system.

I also dont have space to hold a 5 gal container behind my tank.... the little space it has there, hoping to reserve that incase I have to add a calcium reactor or to put the bio pellet/rowaphos reactor.

I just posted that cause i know you told me you was ah gadget person nah..........lol
Normally the phos and pellet reactor fits inside the sump. The calcium reactor fits outside and can be a good way off

cant remember the prices of the aqualifter pump b raj. Is nearly 2 yrs ago i buy that. Raj sells these timers and they work very good for me...I've got 4 of them running on my tank...http://www.amazon.com/Dual-Outlet-Digit ... ium+timers
How d algae and cyano issue going. Corals any better?

^^^ That's the timer i use for my ATO and they work great.
Raj has them for $200 i think.
Just have the outlet from the timer going through the 12V relay that's connected to my float switch (don't want to connect the 120V AC directly through the switch hence the relay).
I have it set to 1 and 2 minute periods 8 times a day.

ok cool well i looking into an arduino build but i hoping i could find some sample code cause while i know a bit of code it might suck to right from scratch.

There is still this stigma that saltwater aquariums, equipment and fishes are VERY expensive. Due to certain petshops in the country that has made this high cost a reality, in true reality, one can set up a small tank that will not break the piggy bank. I've seen the petshop that used to be by twin walls in gulf city come by raj and buy clowns for $200 each, sell it for $600 each, blue/green chromis - $100 and sell it for $500, cleaner shrimp - $350 and sell it for $900. When the customer asks, they say thats because of the shipping & quarantine.........
Allot of people can have a decent tank for a couple thousand dollars. Many people also say that monthly maintainance is also high but its actually a myth. I pay under $250 mth to run my tank and if i really want i could still save. I'm sure there are allot of freshwater people that pay the same amount mthly.

yeah true talk there,
My initial cost was a bit high... for sand rocks and fish etc... after that, when the tank was FOWLR I spent prob 100 or less a month, and that was for salt and fish food.

No wonder the petshop in gulf city move. They prolly see 2customers every 4 hours and they dont buy anything. Sometimes they dont even know what they sellin. I ask for a coral dosing thing and they say the didnt have it but it was right on the shelf ..i show them it and they were like orrrr right this is for corals. :|
