they can handle it. we can't. UK has better roads, better drives. no UK motorway does have potholes. most major roads have speed cameras. UK has better per capita accident rate. T&T was in top 10 in world a few years ago. UK has better driver training for learners. these campaigners need to not jus copy what countries wit better roads, more money, and better standards does do.

"no UK motorway does have potholes" Yes they do ... Where have you driven in the UK? Because in the midlands and the southwest potholes and bad road surfaces exist, quite frequently as well both on motorways and A roads. No, their roads are not as bad as here, the margin is not as great as you think but their road surface is not as perfect as you make it out to be.

Don't know about accident rate per capita but accident deaths rates per 100,000 in T&T is below the world average and we not even in the top 50.
Again more than 50% of British motorist break the speed limits that their engineers set based on sound science. Yet they have one of the lowest accident/death rates in the world.
Still think speed is the cause of most accidents and road deaths?

Now he says it is constantly under review and the are collecting data from speed camera's ... Yet when pressed about how old and relevant his "scientific data" is he starts dodging sensible questions and baffling people will bull$h!%
This is what passes for a politician in sweet T&T.
Also you can't use the fact that only 1 person has died since implementation of speed guns to justify this nonsense. its just been 1 week ...

You optimistic... I feel these things aimed at revenue generation (especially if gov't staunch on not reviewing the current limit), not just to enforce the law. They probably banking on citizens to slip up.

That 80km/h is extremely slow, boring, and distracting as I have to constantly keep watching the speedometer. It also causes an uneasy and uncomfortable driving experience. Additionally, I have found that I tend to zone off while trying to drive at and below 80km/h. Did it last week and I cannot cope.
I hope the petition which I signed does have some effect on deliberations toward raising the maximum allowable legal speed limit.
Same here. I does feel like I driving drunk and sleepy, drifting from side to side. Zero alertness and you have to keep checking vehicles, on your sides that not passing you.

if you cant be responsible enough to drive a car then maybe you should have your permit revoked?

People have been driving 120km/h on our roads for decades without incidence.

Where is the empirical data to suggest that our roads were desinged to handle an upper limit of 80km/h? Additionally, if this data is older than ten years it is deemed irrelevant, as research and data older than that cannot be relied upon to make decision or set standards today.
If "it is constantly and currently being reviewed", then why is there a fixed penalty to something or a condition that is "under review" ?
