Serious lightning strike made a hole on the Piarco International Airport Ramp.

Saw a huge flash of light and though it was an explosion.

where you get that info from??

I was on jetbridge 5 when it happened. United Airlines was pulling into gate 4 when it happened too

The inclement weather affecting Trinidad and Tobago over the last few hours have led to reports of flooding, landslides and downed utility lines in North West Trinidad (Diego Martin, Maraval, Santa Cruz). The Office of Disaster Preparedness and Management is coordinating response with all first responder agencies including the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service and the Disaster Management Units of the municipal corporations.
The cloudy to overcast conditions that have been experienced by Trinidad and to a lesser extent Tobago over the last few hours is attributed to an active I.T.C.Z. (Inter Tropical Convergence Zone). This inclement weather is expected to persist throughout the day over both islands with showers and thundershowers as well as periods of rain.
Consequently we continue to underscore the following:-
After heavy rains, stay inside until water levels have subsided and it is safe to venture outside.
Do not walk/drive through flood waters.
Be cautious when walking/driving along hillsides or landslide prone areas.
We urge citizens that have been affected by flooding to contact their municipal corporation OR the ODPM at 800 6376/640-1285.
TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO IS NOT CURRENTLY UNDER ANY TROPICAL STORM THREAT, WATCH OR WARNING.
The situation is being closely monitored and further bulletins will be issued as the situation warrants. Citizens are advised to monitor the ODPM website, Facebook and all media for updates.

I living Sando and rain has been falling lightly since 6am non stop. It only now stop completely. I got soaked travelling to work this morning. You call that "unaffected?" Lolol

^^also has to do with in adequate drainage systems, and lack of enforcement of the WASA regulations. Plenty houses are not supposed to have the size they have and the roofs they have but hey, nobody wants to do the right thing. Oh well!
