That's a great image, the sunset tone makes it seem relaxing and teh water reflection makes it pop a lot more. Good contrast too!

That's real cool! Is that the sunset coming through the window? I like how the silhouette of the iron or whatever intricate working it is makes an interesting shadow, plus the brilliant orange really draws the eyes in.

Nice sunset! You don't have to have a big camera to get a great picture.
(Pro-tip: To get the sunlight just right, and the shadows even darker, try pointing the camera more towards the bright sky, the sensor will automatically darken to get the sky in proper exposure, and the background will darken and create a nice black outline - that's how I do it with my BB 9700)

Fantastic lines and asymmetry. The way the lines of the steelworks form a nice tunnel, it really pulls the eyes and attention of the viewer.

Great shots guys, just goes to show you really don't need massive hardware to take a great picture that grabs the viewer's attention - just your brain, creativity and a little know-how.

Here's my sunset photo that I took this evening...

Humming Bird shots excellent, where did you take them ?
Did you hand shoot them from distance ?

Shooting humming birds with remote trigger is something I want to try

At 45W's those lights are hardly useful we have 2 in the studio and never found a use for them , I am playing with the idea of making a Macro rig with them .

Postby blacklight » August 12th, 2011, 7:02 am

hey peeps...........after selling my sony h9b mega zoom camera, im looking to upgrade to a dslr.

I'm leaning towards canon and was looking at the t3i and d60 (most likely the d60 because of the better focusing capabilities rather than the t3i superior video qualities), the Sony h9b slow focusing capabilities had me loosing some bess shots.

however I'm undecided in what start up lens combos to purchase.
There are the kit lens 18-55mm and 55-250mm which should be about 350us and then there is the 18-135mm kit lens which claims to have better construction and glass around the same price.
I'm also looking at the 50mm 1.8 legendary lens that everyone says is a must have esp for the 100us price.

Help a brother out in choosing a proper starter kit nah!
any other recommendations are welcomed with lens and camera choices

you need a budget before you decide to spend money

you should try and find some people who can let you use/handle them
some of the cheaper entry level dslrs have slower cpu's than others
you would notice this when focusing among other things
