Then yeah, that type is better however for that much chiseling it will take some time with a relatively small tool like that.

if its just this 1 job to do that might be able to finish in 1 day , u cud do a cost comparison to rent a heavier duty machine locally , see which option will work out better ....

You need the circular diamond road saw to cut the width and then chip out with the hilti type hammer.
It will chip out easily once the grooves cut.

You need a machine in the bigger class, sds max not sds plus.
Sds plus units usually only hammer drill
Not chipping hammer.

Renting is cheaper
Probably like 4-500$ for the day
But I consider it like dead money since it's not much more to buy the tool and keep for future use

Starting it on Sunday
Will use a chisel and hammer / pick axe first
Shitty thing is the 2-3 week wait from purchasing to getting the tool via ocean freight

You can use an angle grinder with diamond blade
Those blades cheap.
If you rent the big road cutting saw they charge by the amount of diamond you use on the blade.

At 3 inch deep, a 7 inch grinder and diamond blade can work.

With a chisel and hammer, you'll still have enough left to use the tool after 3 weeks.

that hammer & chisel by hand is for those enjoy doing things d really hard way

good advice above with regards to cutting 1st then chiselling after

imo i wouldnt put too much trust in that skil which generally speaking is DIY light duty level tools [though i have their 7" circular saw & 4.5" grinder that is holding up after a few yrs] & that 2.0ah hr batt mighten go too far nah , supposing u buss up about 6-12" & it have to recharge that go be rel frustrating & time consuming

SDS max is not a tool u often use so i borrow from family for that very rare occasional maybe 1-2 times for d yr use

i seeing ads coming across FB for chinese brands locally available considerably cheaper than d well known brands , TOTAL is 1 of d brands i cud recall , i have no idea how good it works , built quality or how durable .....

I always have the channel edges cut first. I would cut one or two more grooves down the middle. Cross hatch the channel with each side to side cut about two inches apart.

It's a lot of cutting and a lot of dust but you should be able to finish the cuts in about one hour. When you are done any corded SDS+ rotary hammer with a flat chisel bit will open the channel cleanly and quickly.

If you need to buy something right away, look for a less expensive B&D or INGCO tool. They are widely available locally and you should still be spending about the same amount of money.

Yeah good advice with the slits in between
The pieces should break off instead of requiring actually chipping

Matco is good stuff. They have a similar tool van business in the US as Snap On so their quality has to be on par to compete.

Anyone have M18 batteries willing to part with? Also trying to figure out if these can be shipped through skybox (WS) or if anyone had experience with m18 lithium ion in checked or carry on luggage?

Give it a good workout
From its design it appears to be pneumatic hammer type like a hilti combihammer.

Yea batteries can be shipped
They just label the boxes for shipment purposes
“lithium battery device”
Something with the FCC
