In Trinidad's case birthright citizenship is enshrined in the Constitution (Chap 2, Sec 17)
In the US the 14th Amendment states that "All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside."

Sure seems that means it is also enshrined in the US Constitution
