Novel Coronavirus - “COVID-19” - 107 cases, 8 deaths confirmed in T&T

Its all up to those with trotman symptoms that were denied tests and asked to SQ.

Im pretty sure those SQ’d were responsible enough not to be in the panic rush etc.

Good.

you hoping so - just remember every death would mean another 50 ppl infected. so lets see if we get any more in the next week.

hmm- if they asked ppl to self quarantine but don't get tested maybe they should include that data in the press releases.

Yeh im hoping redo, its very frightening to have to depend on Trinis to be responsible.

But its highly unlikely they would have that data because to them, anyone that calls with Trotman symptoms are told they do not have Covid 19 and to SQ.

Im sure alot of us here called the Hotline and were blanked.

I heard that as well. He said the death rate was closer to 1%, but out of 1.5 million confirmed cases we have 87,459 confirmed deaths. I don't know how much bigger a sample size you need.

By the CMO's 1% mortality estimate, there would have to be 8 million cases right now. :drinking:

The true death rate for this wouldn't be known for a few years. There is under reporting of deaths worldwide and once this settles they can see what the usual rates of death were for a given time period and see how much deaths went up during this pandemic.

In NYC they are experiencing 10 times as many at home deaths daily. Not all would be Covid but a lot would be and in the absence of testing you just wouldn't know.

No new cases mean people are not going in for testing because it literally is impossible to have no new cases right now. Could mean we have a lot of asymptomatic (typically 50-80% of cases) who haven't spread it to the vulnerable (kudos!).

Didn't 20k people come down the week from the borders closed? Wasn't that 2.5 weeks ago? Don't tell me no one had it. Virtually impossible given the number we're seeing internationally.

Also, let's assume it's true and we have a very slow growth of cases. Without figuring an effective method of transitioning back to some semblance of normal life we are just delaying a huge spike in cases since most of our population hasn't contracted it yet.

So I do get what some Facebook commentators are saying.

At this rate we may be able to go back to work pretty soon, cause everything is pretty stable right now. No new cases, we did really good guys kudos to all who sanitized their hands etc

This will be over soon I think it is safe to say our problems are over.

Should even be safe to go back to work reopen bars etc next week. I never expected us to be able to contain this thing so quickly

PNM winning 2020 easy considering how good they handled this, they might get a medal we literally looking at Trinidad being covid free as next week

Or could it just be the calm before the storm?

Remember how Gov't just minus the 49 from their newly appointed Senator's Cruise in their composed stats?

Similarly they just minus that 20k that returned, whom of which just dissolved into Society...

Maybe Community Spread is imminent, but...due to our biological make as a C'bean ppl, it's just not rampant, as yet...

Easy easy Daran,

Based on our statistical data we are doing extremely good much better than other countries.

It is clear that we have pretty much contained this situation unless you are suggesting the health authority is incompetent and the government is hiding something?

I doh believe in any conspiracy theories so far we are doing extremely good this count has been stuck on these numbers for a while no new death etc

Give the government some damn credit for a job well done nah steups.....

Maybe I being too optimistic by reopening next week but if these numbers remain the same we could very well be looking at reopening before the month end. We have clearly contained this situation or are very very close to doing so.

Our situation is nothing like the US and that is fantastic

Doubt is calm before the storm I feel that storm done.

The social distancing and lockdown and washing our hands working this is great news.

I feel if this was as bad as we thought it would have shown by now, not be stuck on these exact numbers

We would be seeing our hospitals over run etc there is literally nothing happening I am happy about this, hopefully it keeps up I doubt any storm going and break out the heat in this country luckily is helping us a lot

We have to convince the church goers not to congregate, not to shout, disband the choir, not to shake hands, not to hug, etc. The megachurches have to be shut down or limited to 10 people. That not going to be easy, since God love them special.

We also have to figure out how to conduct fetes with social distancing. :drinking:

Yeah no church and fete etc keep borders closed obviously but beyond that we have this thing locked in the bag let's give it a couple days again and see if the number remains the same.

Correct I did it due to my medical state as covid was too risky and my job requires face to face interacting with people all over the country

THE Boss know I does be on time and come to work every day so if is anything and this covid really is dying as the data so far suggests I go just talk to the boss he already told me if I ever decide to come back just give him a check and he will organize once the position open.

We go see how this covid goes but my life I must put above anything tho I really hate staying home that is lazy man vibes and it is not a good thing but most trinis seem to like it quite a lot
