Man wakes up to three gunmen in living room during home invasion

Police are investigating a report of a home invasion in Couva.

The 34-year-old victim told police he was asleep at his George Street, Esperanza home at 2am on Thursday when he was awoken by a loud noise.

When he got off his bed, he went into his living room and was confronted by three armed men.

The men pointed guns at his face and announced a hold-up.

The assailants ransacked his home and stole cash, jewellery, his cell phone, and the key to his vehicle.

They then fled the scene on foot, leaving the victim's car parked in his yard.

The police were notified and a team of officers led by PC Ramcharan responded and are continuing enquiries.

What about the killers, people on larceny charges , child molesters out here on bail free to do as they please. Couldn't just give the pensioner community service or sum...

Context. Don't let some ah dem old Pappy fool ollour, dem is some ole t'ief and pest for a long time.
The length of that sentence for what would appear to be a simple burglary strongly indicates Pappy was an incorrigible thief/piper/pest, and the Magistrate felt that a deterrent was needed.
