PNM picks school teacher to contest Moruga seat

Secondary school teacher Lisa Atwater is the People’s National Movement’s pick to contest the Moruga/Tableland constituency in the 2025 general elections, a seat the ruling party desperately wants to wrestle away from the control of the United National Congress.

The current MP is the UNC’s Michelle Benjamin.

Franklin Khan’s son Kheron is PNM’s Fyzabad candidate

Project manager and business development professional Kheron Khan, son of deceased former People’s National Movement (PNM) minister Franklin Khan, was chosen on Wednesday as the PNM’s prospective candidate for Fyzabad.

Khan will be contesting against UNC’s Dr Lackram Bodoe, who UNC officials say “will win—and comfortably—again.”

Nothing there will entice ppl to vote pnm. Backpay and salary increases for public servants were overdue, that's not a gift. Promising to reopen a refinery that they closed to begin with is not a gift. Putting off the new rates for utilities and retirement age along with new NIS rates just means they are delaying the inevitable. The forex situation remains unchanged and the crime still remains prevalent. This budget was a pappyshow. All this shows if they win that they will suffer the population for another four years and treat you good in an election year.

Nope they have to come good because the undecided voters still aren't moved by such a mediocre budget. They have to come really good to win back Tobago as well

How would you know about the undecided voters? They have rejected the alternative since 2015. What's changed since then?

Why not to vote PNM

Imbert said the sale of Clico is one of several special projects, which the Government expects "to generate much-needed revenue, and create new jobs, to divest state assets that are better managed by the private sector, to encourage direct foreign investment, and local investment, especially in the tourism sector."

As at March 31, 2024, the State Enterprises Sector expended $829.2 million on various projects whilst $3,385.7 million is projected to be expended for the remainder of fiscal 2024. The projected expenditure

*Dissolution of Companies*
The following companies have ceased operations and are at various stages of being wound up:
• Caroni (1975) Limited – undergoing pre-liquidation activities;
• Caroni GREEN Limited (100% State-owned) – a liquidator was appointed;
• Community Improvement Services Limited (100% State-owned) – undergoing pre-liquidation activities;

PNM chooses candidates for six more UNC seats

The People’s National Movement (PNM) has now chosen candidates for 14 of the 41 constituencies as it moves closer to completing its full slate for the 2025 general election.

The party screened nominees for six constituencies on October 2 as it continues to ready itself for the election.

These six candidates are in addition to the eight constituencies for which prospective PNM candidates have already been selected.

The successful candidates are Anil Ramjit (Tabaquite); Roshan Ramcharan (Couva South); Brent Maraj (Couva North); Winston Mahabir (Chaguanas West); Adam Hosein (Caroni Central); Beatrice Bridglal (Mayaro).

In a media release, the party said these six candidates are in addition to the eight constituencies for which prospective PNM candidates have already been selected.

The party said screening exercises for other constituencies, as well as calls for nominations for others will take place “in short order.”

Other candidates already chosen include Senator Muhammad Yunus Ibrahim (San Juan/Barataria); Senator Renuka Sagramsingh-Sooklal (St Augustine) and Senator Richie Sookhai (Chaguanas East).

In August the PNM suggested it was seeking candidates to fill the UNC-held constituencies first.

In addition to the successful candidates the PNM last month also issued a call for nominations for Naparima, Oropouche East, Oropouche West, Princes Town, and Siparia.
