Started off as a bright sunny morning, but thunder rolling in Chaguanas right now with intermittent showers. Last shower about 30mins ago was pretty heavy and winds were gusty.

That metoffice website is the worse. Takes ages to load (if at all).

Try TT Weather Centre:

Trinidad and Tobago Weather Center

The alert was updated at 10:00 AM by the TTMS to include Tobago and update the start time of the event

Constant showers for most of the day thus far.

Any updates on the dams and water storage?

I think rain not falling there as "WASA said the reserves were still quite low"

WTF with all these "adverse weather warnings" ? ... Don't get it. Since when has rain become an extraordinary event? Since when has rain become abnormal in the rainy season? Is it that EVERY time rain is forcast they going to send out these silly warnings? It's just a matter of time people get unfazed by these warnings. And when an actual extraordinary rain event is forcast people would be caught with their pants down.

they did have a warning in effect before that event though. the thing is what would be normal rain in any other country causes flood in ours due to the state of our drainage systems, littering, etc., hence the alerts

Each warning has an alert level attached to it
They can issue a warning for a low impact or high impact event.
An orange or red alert will be far more severe.

The main warning last year was actually the week before,
We got a few days of steady rain but no flooding so they ain't say nothing much
And then a few days heavy rain the week after was the straw that broke the camel back.

they put out warnings based on rainfall but seem to ignore the ground saturation conditions from prior rainfall.

Now they sending warning for slightest sneeze to cover they arse

Hoss slightest ting? I expecting rain like that from 4 am, but u could bake chicken outside since 7 am...

They are absolutely wrong, again.

They put out the warnibv yesterday, last nite I watch the first page maps. Me eh see one arse that would lead to their warning,

But I say in my mind, they probably know more than me, so that's what lead them to that.

They was right Thursday though. Intermittent overcast but solid storm that blew off rooves

But I would not put them on blast. They were tardy last year. This year they seem overly cautious. Probably next year they could dial it in a Lil better.

Met office wuk is embarrassing wuk. With all the advances in technology mother nature does still manage to fork up their forecasts.

On the plus side it's one of the few jobs where no one will fire you for getting it wrong...
