Woman charged with beating husband

A woman charged with beating her husband and threatening to kill him was placed on $10,000 bail on Monday.

The 57-year-old from Gasparillo, faced San Fernando magistrate Armina Deonarinesingh, charged with assault by beating, assault occasioning actual bodily harm and threats to kill.

She was granted the bail with a surety, referred to Alcoholics Anonymous and is to report to the Gasparillo police station once per week, a post to the police's social media page stated.

She is scheduled to re-appear in court on December 15.

It was around 2.15 p.m. on November 13, a 63-year-old-man was seated in the driver’s seat of a motor vehicle, in the vicinity of Bay Road, Junction, Vistabella, when his wife approached the vehicle. She allegedly struck him several times about his head and face with her fists, the police's post said.

Also, around 4 p.m. on the same date, the victim was at home with the woman when an argument ensued. The woman got angry and allegedly dealt him several blows to his back and face, and she also allegedly made threats to kill him.

A report was made to the Gasparillo police station and the woman was arrested and charged on the same day.

Investigations were supervised by Acting Supt Claire Guy-Alleyne, ASP Seecharan, Inspector Ramphall and Sgt Banwarie.

Accountant Charged with Larceny after $300k Goes Missing

A 34-year-old accountant was granted bail in the sum of $170,000 by a Justice of Peace, yesterday, 16th November, 2022, after he was charged with Larceny.

RICHARD DEONARINESINGH, of Gasparillo, who was charged with Larceny Servant in the sum of $316.501.78, is expected to appear in court on December 5th, 2022.

According to a police report, between the period of 1st December 2017 and 29th September 2018, an accountant at an engineering company collected the sum of $316,501.78, then allegedly failed to remit the money into the company’s bank deposit, or give an explanation for the missing money. The missing funds were discovered during an internal audit of the company’s sales.

The matter was reported in March 2021 to the Fraud Squad Office, San Fernando. Ag. Cpl. Ramdial conducted the investigation, which resulted in the arrest of a man on the 15th November, who was subsequently charged 16th November,2022.

Investigations were spearheaded by Superintendent Ruben, coordinated by ASP Samuel and supervised by Ag Insp Seepersad.

He unlucky. Lots of white collar crimes go unpunished as companies seek the least publicised outcome. They merely ask for a resignation. And that's for bigger sums that home boy above stole

If you hadda do crime, at least do it properly.

This fella is an accountant? And this was his plan? Really?

34 years old and he life ruined for greed. So nobody would notice that somebody receiving an extra $30k salary per month? Does he know about audits? This man is really an accountant?

Just saw a clip of some police making arrests in San Fernando following the Jouvert celebrations.

Really loved how the police handled those animals. Had them like rag dolls being violently shoved and tossed around.

This is the approach needed.

Open fire if necessary, if the crowd cannot be controlled, use your vehicles as weapons, tear gas, rubber bullets, grenades….anything to maintain law and order.

Concerning the accountant, ppl failing to realize how messed up and broken this judicial system is, so they caught him, no problem, they name and shame him. All well and good, now for the facts. He out on bail, he is unemployed, so where is he getting the money to repay the employer, next point because he is unemployed he will have to take a legal aid lawyer which takes a good while to represent you thus prolonging the matter in court. While he out on bail enjoying life.

Nevertheless hats off to the fraud squad, on bringing these perpetrators before the courts....

Paid to a local Scotiabank account? So case solved right? Because the paper trail right there for the police.
Scammers used to run with Western Union, but nowadays they want gift cards from Google, Apple or Amazon. But this seems local.

Pensioner pays $14,000 for 'imaginary' package

POLICE are searching for the perpetrator/s of a social media scam to which a pensioner fell victim and was duped into paying $13,800 for a package that did not materialise.

The perpetrator/s sent WhatsApp messages to the victim and had conversations for about a month before the victim deposited money to a bank account.

A police report on the incident stated that on October 4, the 69-year-old victim received a WhatsApp message from telephone number 234-815-154-9814 (this number is spoofed and meaningless) and began having conversations daily via WhatsApp with the person who gave his name as Oswald Jarvis of Wales, in the United Kingdom.

On October 29, the victim received a message from the person stating that he had a package for her and informed her that she had to pay in order to clear the package.

On November 1 and 2, the victim paid $4,300 and $9,500 to a Scotiabank account, but she received no package.

She also stated that she received WhatsApp calls from two local telephone numbers.

A report was made to Cunupia Police Station and officers recorded a statement from the victim.PC Rampersad is continuing investigations.

The $1 million cheese heist in El Socorro

Image

An estimated $1,111,200 in cheese was stolen from a warehouse in El Socorro.

At about 3.55 p.m. on Wednesday, the warehouse manager and financial manager of Hand Arnold Ltd located along Chootoo Lane in El Socorro reported to the San Juan police that the business had been robbed by persons utilising a five-tonne truck.

The incident was captured on CCTV footage.

According to police reports, on Tuesday morning the truck arrived at the warehouse at the same time that several other vehicles had arrived to remove inventory.

At the time, the truck driver and his passengers did not provide any documented invoice for items, however, after conversations with security personnel, they were allowed into the facility.

Persons exited the truck and began loading the vehicle with several cases of cheese.

When the truck was filled, the vehicle and its occupants left.

It was not until later that day when the inventory of what had been moved was taken that it was realised the van was not listed as a vehicle registered to transport goods or conduct business for the company.

Checks were made and it was discovered that 300 cases of 20kg bulk cheddar cheese valued $360,000, along with an additional 626 cases of cheese valued $751,200, had been removed.

The two managers then made their way to the San Juan police where a report was made.

Cpl Balram is continuing enquiries.
