hey 2nr fishermen, always had a love for fishing but half d time i aint know wat i doin but i do it any way. so heres the deal. ever since i small i hav casters i use from boats but lately i just aint feeling it wen i catching them small fish, so i decide i wana go after d big ones no matter how long it takes or how many fishing trips i take and come home empty handed cuz i wana get quality not quantity. i lookin to buy my first rod and reel for some surf fishing. i have two options

1: shakespeare bigwater spinning combo 10' i getting locally for $485
or
2: a pardner can buy and ship for me from amazon a Spinning Combo
10'0" rod with 70 size reel
Two-piece Medium action Ugly Stik rod this costing me bout US$70
any idea what it will cost landed?

Also which of these two will be the better combo for surf fishing?

I would go with the 2nd combo bcuz uglystik rods are really gd...i prefer 1 piece rods for boat fishing though an light tackle for inshore...

My advise is buy a power rod or ugly stick from daiwa n then slap on a penn real! The reels on the combos don't last long. Buy good thing one time! Don't spin top in mud! I caught a monster shark on a power rod from daiwa and a penn reel! I had reall good tackle and rigs (hooks leader swivel etc etc).

fellas there is plenty Tarpon{100lbs+} action in Mon Diablo .... live BAIT{ cro cro } and mullet { dead }

cavali {herring} and lipee{sea tatoo bait} as well

but on the rising tide

be prepared to lose lead grabbers

got 4 great strikes but did land any .

in total with my pals we got 18 strikes but the rocks make the fight hard.
