A man who was shot by his boss, a police officer, outside his workplace in Arima on Saturday has died at the hospital.
36-year-old Yannick Hercules of Oropune Gardens in Piarco was employed at Classy's Bar in Carapo as a security guard by 39-year-old PC Javon Skeete who is an SRP assigned to the Court and Proces Branch in Arima.
Skeete, in a report to the police, claimed he was engaged in an argument with Hercules over money when Hercules began beating him and he shot him once with his license pistol.
Hercules, Uncutt News Media understands, succumbed to a gunshot injury to the chest while warded at the Mt. Hope Hospital on Tuesday night.
However, Uncutt News Media understands that the incident stemmed from Skeete short-paying Hercules for security duties at the bar.
We were told that the bar is run by a Chinese national who contracted Skeete to manage security at the business place.
Hercules was hired by Skeete and was being paid $17.50/hour. For several months, Hercules was being short-paid by Skeete who told him the Chinese weren't paying the full amount because business was slow.
Uncutt News Media was told that Hercules had a conversation with the Chinese who indicated that Skeete had previously borrowed a large sum of money from him and they agreed to make deductions from monies to be paid for security services.
The Chinese, we were told, also told Hercules that he wasn't deducting much from Skeete so he should have been able to receive his full salary.
There was a confrontation last week, we were told, between Hercules and Skeete where Skeete is alleged to have "buss off a shot in the air."
On Saturday, there was another confrontation between Skeete and Hercules, and both men began squabbling when Skeete allegedly pulled out his weapon and shot Hercules in the chest.
Hercules has been working security at the bar for the past four years, Uncutt News Media was told.

Is he flicking serious? Why does he not arrest anyone?
Since the days of Abu Bakr everyone knew what was happening with illegal quarrying in T&T. The government told the police to take their hands off Abu and all the other quarry bandits.

MEDIA RELEASE
DCP Simon – Curbing Illegal Quarrying Key to Reducing Murders
Illegal quarrying, illegal gambling and illicit trade are criminal activities closely tied to the prevailing scourge of criminality, including murders.
This was the warning from Deputy Commissioner of Police ‘Intelligence and Investigations’, Curt Simon, during a meeting held with the Multi-Agency Task Force (MATF), at the Police Administration Building, Port of Spain, on Monday 7th August, 2023.
The meeting, themed ‘Multi-Agency Task Force 2023 Continuing the Commitment’, was attended by the Heads of Departments and Senior Representatives of various Government agencies.
DCP Simon urged the Task Force members to also be vigilant against those who may attempt to corrupt the law enforcement processes. He vowed to provide whatever resources the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service possesses, to further advance the Multi-Agency Task Force approach to policing and combatting criminality.
ASP Haynes who heads the MATF, echoed DCP Simon’s comments, noting that a main challenge is the illegal occupation of State lands, as it is a precursor to illegal quarrying activities.
He says this then erupts into gang warfare for State lands.
MATF has investigated over 120 complaints resulting in the seizure of eight excavators, one bulldozer, 13 trucks and the arrest of 18 persons for committing the offence of digging and removing mineral. Eleven of those persons have since been charged.
ASP Haynes assured the participants, that the MATF Quarrying Team, has been instructed to collaborate with the Commissioner of State Lands and the Land Settlement Agency, to regain control of State Lands and this will ultimately reduce the fighting and killing which is taking place.
MATF uses Problem-Oriented Policing and Intelligence-led techniques to carry out its mandate of enhancing law enforcement capacity and fostering a multi-faceted approach to crime reduction via greater inter-agency collaboration.
Other successes of MATF include the $122.8 million in taxes to be collected as a result of its exercises and the $114,920, which were seized in relation to illegal gambling activities.
