nice!!!

Personally I don't like the finish on the boxes, but that is personal preference - great job either way!

Good job on the boxes man Chiney... the PJ is still on the table if you are interested

However I also noticed the finish on the boxes. I want to ask some questions though... why did you use the primer on the boxes before painting?

In my personal experience, and in a project just completed I used KRYLON satin finish on the raw MDF and on the second coat the finish was really smooth almost like a vinyl wrap.

thanks!

lol i hear you!

the reason for the primer is for it to seal the MDF from moisture, i would like for these to last a bit, also, i feel by year end i may go for a gloss white finish, i somewhat regret the black a tad bit.

And spray it on for a smooth finish.

Peakes has sheets of real wood self-adhesive veneer that would work great on those MDF boxes too. Stain it any colour.

I didn't want to go that way. Don't actually like working with that thing lol.
But as I said, first project like this. Won't be last.

Question,

Love the build, but why port the front?

You would get a nice room gain if you ported the back and low to the ground.

The stage and depth of the soundfield will also be much better if the towers not jammed against the wall as I see a lot of guys doing here. The front of mine are a full two feet from the wall.

Just asking!

I'm currently redesigning the sub box. Pics of that when it's finish.

Here I an example of the new idea.

Screw it!!! I found my problem... When I upgraded the firmware on the rx is added an "enhancer" feature. Well it screwed up the sub signal and caused a serious reverb issue. Man does thing thing hit low and hard...wow!!!!

So I am veryyyyyyyyyyyyy satisfied with the entire build.. GG Image Dynamics!

They are all I needed them to be. Very crisp and not to sharp
The speakers are those self. The midbass is awesome. I can gladly play my music without the sub and feel satisfied!

Sorry for bad quality pictures. Lightning was poor. This bugger needed an entire check piece with just one towel. It's that heavy. Played it with my altec Lansing 641 sats. Just 2, no sub. And boy oh boy. So clean and controlled. You really do get what you pay for.

Thanks..

Thinking of upgrading my receiver at the moment. I have been using Yamaha for the past 10 years with the best results. RXV-659

I am thinking about upgrading to a Dolby ATMOS capable receiver. However the Yamaha options currently available are kinda pricey.

Can anyone share some feedback on the following brands:
Onkyo (looking at the TX-NR747)
Pioneer ELITE (looking at the VSX-90)
Denon (looking at the AVR-X2200W)

I am currently working on a dedicated HT room. Will share some pics here. I Learnt a lot from this thread.... The complete build is a diy (civil works, electrical, masonry, carpentry, lighting etc.)

My build comprises the following:

Optoma HD141X
MB Quart Centre and Front L/R channels
Acoustically transparent screen (120" diagonal 6:9 aspect ratio)
MTX Dipole dual 5.25" surround speakers
4 x 6.5" coaxial kevlar cone speakers (top middle and top rear)
Dual 15" Dayton Audio ported subs tuned to 22Hz
Yamaha RXV 659 Amplifier (soon to be upgraded)
Crown 1000W class D amp for subs
