Reigning Digicel International Groovy Soca Monarch Kerwin Du Bois will not be defending his title on Fantastic Friday. Du Bois said yesterday he would not be a part of this year’s competition, making him the first of the artistes to use new rule change announced by organisers Caribbean Prestige Foundation for the Performing Arts (CPF) to his benefit. Speaking through his publicist Adanna Asson yesterday, Du Bois said he did not want to defend his title. He said he only entered the competition last year because his fans had requested that he do so. This year, however, Du Bois, who dethroned Machel Montano last year with his runaway hit Too Real, said he wanted to explore other avenues this year. “He wants to do something different and so he will be having an event at the Normandy on February 1 in order to give back to his fans,” Asson said.

Grammy award winning songwriter Angela Hunte, is exploring her proud Trinbagonian heritage on a new collaboration with non other than the Monk himself, Machel Montano. Hunt, who penned and co-produced the wildly popular "Empire State of Mind" for Jay Z and Alicia Keys, is at it again with this vivacious, bass-driven track which demonstrates exactly how Soca lovers flatten any dance they partake in. Like sand skimming through our fingertips, this feting season is slipping past us more quickly than can almost be believed. All too soon the most euphoric week of any year will be here.
Spectacularly though, Precision Productions has distilled the intensity and frenzied delirium of this last-lap week to create the team's final riddim for the 2015 season.

Capturing the spirit of Jouvert, Anson Soverall of FMMG Productions today released the "Main Event Riddim" featuring artistes Kees, M1, Saga Boyz and Mr. Killa alongside Mr. Renzo. Kees sings "Doh Fraid" while M1 says he's on "Duty" this Carnival. Saga Boyz contributes "Massy" and Mr Killa and Mr. Renzo team up for "No Behaviour".

Living proof of this is readily seen in the creation and inspiring journey of “Soundbang”, the first collaborative effort between Major Lazer and Monk Monté. This hit served to formerly introduce Major Lazer to the Soca world at 2014’s Machel Monday, while it simultaneously became the wings that carried the hybrid of Soca and EDM to every corner of the globe.
After such success and much to the thrill of music lovers everywhere, these two ingenious forces are back together again, this time though, along with the voice of a Mega Star, who has been described as having the best female vocals in pop music today. In an amazing push forward for Soca, Machel Montano, joins Major Lazer and Ariana Grande on the remix for the song “All My Love”, which was originally featured on the soundtrack of the blockbuster movie, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1.
Ariana’s astonishing vocal range, together with Machel’s passionate Caribbean vitality, alongside Major Lazer’s skilful and worldly touch, were all melded together to create an exquisite world sound. Beyond question this resulting track will ignite hearts and blaze new musical trails, setting the globe afire with love.
But look out though, because this is just the first of much more to come from the team of Major Lazer and the Monk, in fact up next Sean Paul unites with them in a smasher that will turn the whole music game on its ear.
