that diffuser nice, didn't blowout the whites in the pics eg on kes clothes
I find the pics not very sharp though which is not related to the flash

I going invest in one of this. Read several reviews and lots were thumbs up..The only thing some photographer(s) mention that it can fall off if someone bump into u or your camera.. Bit puzzle as to how..But overall its a good accessory for the flash..

thinking about ordering this lighting kit...anyone has any experience with this

Image

http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/4 ... Flash.html

The Morris screw-in AC Slave II is a workhorse that boosts or fills in with any electronic flash by means of its built-in slave. This B&H 2 light kit includes sockets, brackets, light stands and umbrellas.

Note: This kit will function from your existing flash only. Neither of these flash units has a sync terminal for connection to a camera.

Looks like a good basic setup, but I am not seeing The ability to change one of the brollies to a reflecting umbrella instead of shoot through umbrella. You will only get soft lighting from that setup, unless you use a bare bulb for your hard lighting, which would be OK but it won't have any spread like with a reflecting brolly.

Did you add the noise in post processing or was the ISO turned up too high? Doesn't look bad BTW

These four pictures were taken with my crappy P&S. No bess mode. Camera does not matter. A steady hand and a little common sense is all that is needed. I resent people telling me that I take the shots I take BECAUSE of my DSLR, or BECAUSE I use film etc.

Yup, Sigma 10-20 EX f/4.5-5.6, circular polarizer on a Nikon D200 with MBD200 grip.
Edited in Lightroom 2.0, basically just bumped up the blacks a bit, then used the colour balance sliders to darken the blue's as well as increased the vibrance a good bit (vibrance is better for natural colours & skin tones, if you increase saturation it usually throws out the natural tones & flesh tones).

Then increased the clarity, and just to add some pop - increased only the highlights on the level's slider.

Some more for you....

Taken on the boardwalk, Coney Island NY

And some lessons in lighting...

Image
"Surprise!

Here's the setup-shot for "Surprise!":
Image

- SB-600 snooted & gelled to 3/4CTO on camera left. This was fixed to the back of a dinner-chair using a Joby Gorillapod
- SB-600 on camera right gelled to Blue. Pointed up towards the ceiling and wall to bounce and give a fill-light.
- Triggered using Nikon CLS via the on-camera commander
- Camera white-balance set to "sunlight" to create a blue-hue compensation.
- I believe I had the Key light on +1/3 EV comp. to give a better & brighter spotlight effect, while the blue-gelled ambient strobe was on -1/8 to avoid overpowering the keylight & messing up the exposure on the dog.
- The bottle of febreeze was just a paperweight to keep the sheet in place :) :)
