Security guard killed, two critical in robbery at Pennywise Plaza

A security officer is dead and two more critical after they managed to foil a robbery outside Pennywise Super Centre in La Romaine this afternoon.

The officers from Allied Security went to pick up cash at Pennywise and were accosted by the gunmen who opened fire killing one guard on the spot.

That guard has been identified as Jeffrey Peters.

The two other security officers returned fire, but a female officer was shot in the head.

One of the robbers was also shot and he dropped his gun as he fled.

Police are still on the scene.

It is the families that will be forever changed. You hadda find out exactly what these officers signed up for. They are fully aware that they were not in an armored vehicle.

The law doesn’t say you HAVE to transport money in an armored vehicle so to answer your question, this can easily happen again.

Its the business owners that should protect their workers properly and not have them like sitting ducks.

on a separate note : so much misinformation does be spreading via social media, ppl shud remain calm & not jes share hearsay

on tv6 jes now, an old lady was relating how d bandits ran into her home & how she & her family hid in a bedroom while police & d bandits were shooting at each other ...

News reporting how they run down a track and went in an innocent woman's house who was home with her grandchildren upstairs, and the murderers were hiding out downstairs. They tried to get upstairs but she locked the door. Imagine if they had taken hostages upstairs. Then police reach and shootout. What a nightmare and PTSD.
