The antibody cocktail that President Trump received for his COVID-19 infection and touted on Wednesday evening as a "cure" for the deadly virus was developed using cells derived from aborted fetal tissue, a practice the White House and anti-abortion rights groups oppose.

Last week, Mr. Trump received Regeneron Pharmaceuticals' cocktail of monoclonal antibodies, an experimental therapeutic for coronavirus that is still undergoing testing and is not FDA approved. In a nearly five-minute video posted to Twitter on Wednesday, the president lauded its effects, calling it "the key."

"I think this was a blessing from God that I caught [the virus], I think it was a blessing in disguise," Mr. Trump said in the video. "I caught it, I heard about this drug, I said, 'Let me take it' … and it was incredible the way it worked."

Pro choice products being used to save a pro life figure head.. Very meta.

Trump don't have the wit dealing with biden, as he had against Clinton. And it have real ting he could use on biden.

Trump has his core support but all the media I'm encountering showing a shift to biden.

In not pro trump, but I am extremely anti Democrat, in this configuration.

you'd think the dems could find a proper candidate eh?

The system is broken

they have good candidates, but, they would shut down the contract mafia. its better to lose and keep the status quo than to win and have to give up the second place hand in the cookie jar.
the 'wheel' that dragon girl from GoT was talking bout breaking... the establishment dems is the counter balance that keeps it turning smoothly

The election results in 2016 were not that close.
Given the state of play this year, the Dems candidates I just don’t see the electoral college shifting to the Dems.

They might win the popular vote...cuz they will get even more votes in their states...but that isn’t the system.

These are the same idiots who have had numerous black people shoot themselves due to poor firearm's handling. Don't even let me start on those clowns in CHAZ who called to defund the police, accidentally shot a bunch of black folk over the course of their short lived existence and then called the same cops for help. But CNN won't show you that. The liberal media will be quick to label Kyle Rittenhouse a white supremacist but fail to point out that it was three , get this WHITE folks he shot after a dangerous mob tried to kill him for putting out a fire they started. You won't hear about the founder of blue line bears, a 14 year old makes bears for children of fallen cop's children using their uniform having received death threats after Floyd got killed.

There are dangerous extremists on both sides but it should be clear as day that these left wing groups are by far more dangerous and the most racist bunch of people who claim to be against racism. Ever see how they treat black Trump supporters? And based on the number of black folk accidentally killed or shot by these same groups I think they have far greater to fear from wannabe militias on the left as opposed to the real ones on the right

Well said.

9% is excellent for Trump. :D

At this point in 2016, he was doing much worse.

Trump's chances of winning on this date in 2016 were better than in 2020 but the difference is relatively small.

Trump chance of winning election:

Oct 10 2016: 17.2%
Oct 10 2020: 14%

So much freedums in Texas where Trump-slurpin' Governor Greg Abbott declared that only one voting drop-box per county is allowed. To stop the spread of Covid-19 of course.

What was of interest to me was that the size of the average Texas county is around 1,000 square miles (half the size of Trinidad). Some of them are two or three times the size of Trinidad.

BTW, there is an injunction against limiting the ballot collection boxes.

Ent?

Problem is "fresh and new" is not just age related. Buttigieg, Booker, Beto, Castro were young enough candidates, but were just as moderate corporatist and bought as many senior establishment Democrats. Funny enough the most promising "fresh and new" candidate was Bernie in terms of his policies and direction for the party. As usual big money always breaks the system. Big money influence out of electoral politics/process is the only way. Steep climb though.

Trump extends trade pact to aid local manufacturers

Image

A trade agreement which allows for goods produced in TT and other Caricom countries to have duty-free access to the US market has been extended for another 10 years by US President Donald Trump.

A release from the Ministry of Trade and Industry on Sunday said the extension of the Caribbean Basin Economic Recovery Act (CBERA) was signed off by Trump on October 10.

The ministry said this agreement was important for TT since it has contributed significantly to its overall trade since 2005. In 2019 alone it noted that over 36 per cent of TT’s total exports and 51 per cent of its non-energy exports were consumed in the US.

It said, “TT’s relationship with the US is a vital part of the country’s overall trade, as the USA is our top export and import partner.

“According to the United States Trade representative’s 2019 report on the operation of CBERA, TT has exported US$551.8 million to the US in 2018, which represents an increase of 13.1 per cent over its value in 2017.”

The ministry said 2019 data also showed the main exports to the US were petroleum and petroleum-related products.

“The main exports to the US were methanol in the sum of US$449 million and petroleum and petroleum-related products amounting to US$55.4 million.

“In addition, the top energy exports to the US in 2019 including liquefied natural gas (LNG), anhydrous ammonia, urea and methanol accounted for approximately TT$8.6 billion,” it said.

The ministry said non-energy products to the US in 2019 included rum, aerated beverages, sugar confectionery, sauces and biscuits which contributed to almost TT$55 million.

Further, the ministry noted CBERA role to aid government’s economic recovery strategy to reset growth and innovation.

“Over 200 firms exported duty free to the US generating foreign exchange earnings and employment.

CBERA, was implemented in January 1984, to facilitate the development of stable Caribbean basin economies.

^Graham and McConnell make hypocrisy look like a sport.

Imagine both blocked Obama's pick, nine months out from an election because they claimed it was "an election year" and "too close" to election day and "the American people should have a say" yet there they are trying to seat another Christian fundamentalist, just days out from this coming election AFTER voting already started. Conservatives eh easy.

Another personal favorite Lindsey Graham quote.

SENATE RACES 2020 ODDS TRACKER: DEMOCRATS FAVORED TO FLIP 5ENATE

https://bookies.com/news/senate-races-odds-tracker

The Republicans currently hold a 53-47 seat advantage, and the Democrats may need to flip five to go to 51 as Democratic Sen. Doug Jones of Alabama is, as expected, a prohibitive underdog to keep his seat. Jones won the seat in a special election in 2017 and faces former Auburn head football coach and Republican Tommy Tuberville. Democrats are not underdogs for any other Senate seat they currently hold.

Democrats are favored to flip seats in Iowa, North Carolina, Maine, Colorado and Arizona, with Montana, Georgia, South Carolina, Alaska and possibly even Kansas in play. That means, not only are Democrats favored to win the White House, they're favored to win the House and the Senate.

If you look at US Presidential betting odds since 1896:
The underdog won 4 out of 31 times.
No incumbent US President ever won reelection as the underdog.
