weekend i went an tried an early morning down claxton bay side...got some great action on very light tackle (15lb line)...caught some zapate and hooked up on a tarpon around 40lbs...also caught some paag...saw a couple of snook around but i didnt hav any live bait so no go wit dem...

so i went DDI today... depts of 167ft
no trolling...jus banking..and well these are the results...

as you can see the weather was perfect...

I went ddi and bank for a 4hrs monday too but in depths like 60 feet. We get the last piece of the falling tide before dead low and we caught a lot of big cro cro and big ass catfish and 3 five pound salmon.

usually u split the catch with whoever goes on the boat
then you pretty much share for family, friends etc...
or some can be sold to recover the cost of the trip but the fish does not waste

never understand the point of keeping Tarpon that big.
i'm really stoked you had the fight of your life to land it, but at that size, flesh quality is dismal and the fish does much more good alive and kicking in the ecosystem than on a plate.

inside Cyril Bay and Saut d'eau island last weekend...live scarce so a lil light banking and spoons was de order.

What type of fish is that on the top left hand corner of razkal 3rd pic

the top left hand are a couple small grouper we caught banking the deeper spots, those guys 'spit' their swim bladder, so ended up in flour and oil.

other than that, what i could i.d. for sure were:
-racando/white mouth croaker, a couple.
-1 barbel drum and 1 weakfish/salmon
-1 lippe
-1 sheepshead porgy
-1 bechine and 1 Af pomp
-tripletails
-lane snapper/walliacke (sp?)

there was a stingray as well, but his story ended well, so no pics.
