Shame... this Test series has shown the vast difference between the two teams.

The West Indies have degenerated into a T20 side. Why are they still playing Test Cricket?... :?

tests show the quality of a good cricket team, its where technique, endurance, mental focus and strategy is spotlighted in the put up or shut up. Its the defining and best form imho of the game not a mindless display of striking ability, difference between boxing and breaking boards.

OKAY:

More money.
More fans.
More excitement.
More T.V. rights.
More money.
More international interest.
More money.

Not denying your point of view. But we all know where the real.future of cricket lays, and the west Indies T20 side is ranked as one of the best.

I think our future is bright!

Does ESPN care?
Do big money investors care?
Does the general man care?
Are the gift shops packed?
Are television companies fighting for coverage rights?

No one cares. Only diehards.
Sport is a business. This business model is dying. T20 business model is booming. Wake up. All Windies need to keep doing, is keep winning at T20.

Since T20s have started the WI have played 51 winning 23 and loosing 24 with 3 ties and 1 no result. Basically they lose more than they win so not really understanding RASC's point about if WI keep winning T20s.

They won one T20 World Cup, but there has been four T20 World Cups so far and there has been four different winners anyhow.

Is our current Test history or Current T20 been more successful?

WI Test Record since the advent of T20s is Played 66; won 11; lost 31; drawn 24.
In ODIs its played 179; won 70; lost 98; tied 3 with 8 no results.

Essentially their win record over the 3 formats are
T20 - 45%
Tests - 17%
ODIs - 39%

Doesn't paint a good picture for a successful team.

But hey the players super rich now so who cares that they are mediocre once the game goes on for longer than twenty overs an innings

Exactly. Forget the rest and focus on T20- get that win percentage up.

Jack of all trades and master of none. Focus on the one that has the brightest, Most lucrative future!

No one cares about tests or odi's anymore. It's a different world. Sports is entertainment business.

Could you imagine if we concentrated all our effort resources etc in T20?

In 20 years time it will have almost no tests and fewer odi... but I'm pretty sure 1000% increase in T20... so let's come together and focus on the future.

Actually would disagree with you that tests and ODIs would be dead in 20 years. Maybe in the WI yes but over the past few years tests and ODI attendances in Aus, Eng, India and RSA have actually been quite good once the opponent has been of high standing meaning any of the 4 mentioned teams playing one another. TV rights in these nations also not too shabby for the tests and ODI formats as well.

It may not be coincidence that these teams all have high rankings in each of the 3 formats. Maybe proficiency in Tests and ODIs would breed excellence on T20s or vice versa. The main thing shown is that you can excel in all three.

but is T20 enough to rival soccer or F1 (IMO the biggest sports in the world)? It's only big since with the ICC's support it's intended to be mass marketed cricket. Test never was and probably will be.

Cricket needed T20, but Test is the ultimate of a cricketer. that's why it called Test lol..

If anything they need to get rid of one days. One days were introduced long ago for the reason T20 exists now. there's too much cricket and there should only be Tests, the World Cup and a T20 World Cup on the international schedule. No sheit/dotishness like the Champions Trophy. Kind of like having a FIFA World Cup then a FIFA "Champions Trophy", there's no point if it features the same teams.

ODI's would most likely be phased out... not Tests.

with kemar roach out, would have thought that ravi rampaul would be the logical choice to replace him as he would have provided much needed experience and certainly more control than either best or gabriel. I would also have gone with Miguel cummins as i think he would be more suited to the conditions in New Zealand, either one of cummins or cotterell and rampaul, shillingford and sammy(dunno if i could call sammy one of our main bowlers) would form the basis of the bowling attack with backup from the woefully underutilised narsingh deonarine and samuels.
