Man cudn't go. He had weddin' tuh plan.

What is the big debate about?

BTW - Lara talking a setta doodoose. What would Bravo and Rampaul have contributed? Not that Best is that great a choice either. Lara is right about the selectors though. I think India has about five of their A-team players in the test squad. How many do WI have?

IMO in test cricket we have at least two bowlers better than Narine in the WI. Shillingford and Bishoo. Between Narine and Permaul its a toss up but supposedly Permaul is a better batsman.

Narine 15 wkts in 5 test matches - average 48

Shillingford 48 wkts in 10 test matches - average 31

He's 39 going on 40 next year. Imagine how badly WI will be without him when that time comes.

Reinforces what I say however given the small number of matches played by each of them I wouldn't even use those figures as the basis of my comparison and would prefer to do those figures comparison after say 25 matches each.

Bishoo and Shillingford seems better for tests based on their attacking nature as spin bowlers whereas (and it may be due to the limited # of 1st class matches he has played in and plethora of limited overs matches he has done) Narine seems more defense/containing.
An added dimension to the statistics which should be included is the strike rate though i.e. # of balls between wickets. Even here Narine lags behind.

Shillingford - 62.2
Narine - 86.6
Bishoo - 76.1

Narine will surprise u all if/when given his next chance in the test team,
Narine has a better bowling average, 21.49 in first class cricket compared to Shillingford's 23.14, even Narine's strike rate, 45.2 is better than Shillingford's 52.8.
I remember Narine taking ten wickets in his last first class match for Trinidad.
I have nothing against Shillingford tho as he is our best bowler atm and is always among the wickets but wud like to see both him and Narine 2gthr in action.

Narine has played 12 FC matches, Shillingford 83 and Bishoo 45. I highly doubt Narine can keep his average that low if he plays 80 matches.

Which is why at this early stage of all their careers match wise, mere statistical analysis cannot do justice given the small sample sizes involved.

With that said I am sure Narine is quite content raking in the US$millions not playing tests while we argue about him here.

Ah crying for Sachin's last innings. lol..  as of now he's 38 not out, but ah feel Sammy will give he a free century as a token (maybe "accidentally" drop catches in the slip or "accidentally" bowl too many extras haha..)

in all honesty though, best Test batsman in my lifetime was Ponting.

If Tendulakar scores a century it will not be cuz WI and Sammy give it to him.It will be because WI and Sammy are shiet hounds who are just on or thereabout average cricketers.
