where do you get the weatherproof connectors to purchase
The IP cameras will come with the weatherproof connectors. It's essentially a sealed cylindrical cover around the Ethernet connection with silicone O-rings. One part will have to be disassembled and placed on the cable before crimping the RJ45 connector.

Once you reassemble the parts properly with the seals in the correct places, you will not have a problem with moisture intrusion.

As for the guys who use the analog cameras with separate baluns and power connectors. You can use the weatherproof PVC boxes, they come with a rubber seal for the cover. The minimum size you can get locally is a 6x6 box but you can buy smaller ones online. Note that the smaller sizes are very rare.

Guys who have hikvision mobile app: I used to be able to swipe left or right and when i reach my last camera, #7, i cud swipe and it will start form #1 again. Now when I reach the last camera i have to go swipe back. Basically there is no looping when viewing individual camera. Anyone else have this issue?

If your talking about the Hikconnect app, I've only noticed that feature on iOS devices. Never saw it on Android.

Just checked my iPad. Looks like the app updated and it now behaves in the same manner you described.

But on the plus side it wasn't saving my Favorites (screen layout) in the manner I had before. Now it works.

Win some, lose some.

There's alot of knockoff hikvision cameras being sold locally.

I would say mostly knockoffs

Noob question.....what's the advantages of using a dome camera vs bullet type camera outdoors eg in a garage? Would a dome camera cover a wider angle which will be equivalent to the angle covered by 2 bullet cameras?

Shape doesn’t matter, it’s all about the lens. Domes are more secure, harder to tamper with.

The ones I bring have a security screw so it isn’t easily accessible. The others come with the Phillips head screw that’s available locally.

They need to start making those domes bullet proof as well as having cheaper PTZ options. Those static cameras are a complete waste and only pushing you to buy more of them to cover more areas where you wouldn't have to with a PTZ moving around.

Don’t know where you get your information from, you’re very misinformed on all fronts.

There are cheap mini ptz from 700 and up

I prefer 2 static cameras than a ptz though.

I working on making a middle hinged pole to put a 33x ptz optical zoom 8mp ip camera 30-35 feet in the air in front my property along with 3 200 watt flood lights

Nah I prefer the cheaper option of 1 PTZ vs 2 or more static cameras especially if cost is a concern. Btw that setup you have going on there sounding good, post pics of the installation when you done!

When you all install the cameras, do you all use PVC conduits or trunking or both? Or just use wall clips and tight straps for the cabling?
