Both - I didn't know there was a built in notification, so I made one with Tasker when I saw that it had the option (why not right?). When it happened, phone went crazy! lol (both notifications fired off at the same time).

EDIT: The phone behaved in a normal manner, and notified me simultaneously via two applications that the battery was overheating.

PS: I think the overheat temp on an S3 is about 50C from when I've seen it overheat. Anyone wanting to check their Android temps can use Battery Monitor Widget - I use it because it puts an icon in the notification bar with the temperature.

^ I'll probably do an AppRadio thread in the ICE forum - just testing out the unit fully before writing a review.

The iPhone 5 does feel a bit warm when running Waze AND Pandora at the same time on the AppRadio. But I just placed my iOttie One Touch near the AC vent and that sorted out that problem - I've never seen a battery warning on an iOS device here.

Cases don't help with cooling.

I have my iOttie stuck to the glass and the phone gets VERY hot.
However before I had the iOttie, I put the phone on my dashboard and got a high temperature warning.

Also forgot the flashlight app on once and overheated in my pocket

Google Maps App Gets Real-Time Incident Reports from Waze!

Google’s Waze Acquisition Bears First Fruit As Mobile Google Maps App Gets Real-Time Incident Reports

Google acquired Waze and it seemed obvious the purchase was about making Maps better. Today, Maps did indeed get a little better thanks to an update to its mobile maps apps that introduces Waze’s real-time incident reports to Android and iOS applications.

On Waze, users can report things like accidents, cars stopped by the side of the road, construction and road closures in real-time as they drive. These reports are used to alert other Wazers to problems ahead as they happen. Users in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, France, Germany, Mexico, Panama, Peru, Switzerland, UK and the U.S. will initially have access to these features, with more regions rolling out later.

Interestingly, the Maps update is red-only; users of the Google Maps apps can’t report incidents, just see the ones reported by Wazers. Waze’s own apps get updates today, too, however, providing them a little Google love in return for their service. Google is adding Google Search to Waze’s list of providers, and also adding Google Street View and satellite imaging to Waze’s Map Editor, which should be of benefit to Waze’s community of active reporters.

This gives us a big clue about how Google is viewing Waze: it’s not going to toss the two products into a melting pot and come out with a single hybrid – it’s treating Waze almost like a community-sourced product development arm of the Maps project. So long as it also continues providing useful updates to the Waze app and its users, that could be a strategy that serves it very well in terms of providing better-informed Maps data for the general public.

http://techcrunch.com/2013/08/20/google ... t-reports/

Waze Brings Google Search and Street View to the Community

The entire Waze family has been hard at work since joining Google, collaborating with the Google Maps team to explore best practices and make drivers’ lives easier. One of our top priorities is identifying familiar and helpful Google services that can significantly improve the experiences of both users and editors. Today, both Waze and Google have a few features to debut.

First, if you’ve updated the app recently, you may have noticed we’ve incorporated the power of Google Search to the mix. Google Search joins a host of other search providers featured on Waze, from Foursquare to Yelp, making it easy to find favorite businesses, home addresses and more.

We have something new for our map editors, too – the Waze Map Editor will now include Google Maps Street View and satellite imagery as tools to make it easier to correct map errors reported by the community.

It seems that navigation services cause the devices to heat up.

Is there any way to list an object in the road as "nutsman" standing between the lanes?

Starting today, Google Street View will begin a new transformation from a carefully curated project to a community-driven map pieced together by user-submitted photos and panoramas from around the world. It’s a smart move from Google as it continues to expand the popular service. After all, there’s only so much of the world that Google can cover on its own, despite its company’s fleet of camera-equipped cars, backpacks and other gadgets.

Google has made the process of uploading your own photos to Street View as simple as possible. Using any Android device, you can easily take massive panoramas using Photo Sphere and instantly upload them to Google Maps. You can also use spherical pictures taken with a DLSR camera, though that takes a few extra steps. The new tool for contributing to Street View also looks simple and intuitive, allowing you to connect your Photo Spheres to each other and to Google’s own panoramas with what the company calls a “constellation” user interface.

With the latest update to Street View, Google will continue to map out more and more of the world with detailed photos. While the search giant has recently expanded the service to cover everything from select zoos to airports and train stations around the world, we’re excited to see what type of user-submitted content shows up in the future.

One time leaving Diego in traffic I update Waze with the CEPEP workers cutting grass on the side of the road.

Barely 5 minutes later 96.1 broadcasting the exact same thing in their "GPS update" ...

Waze t'ief!

I wish they would encourage people to download the app and use it as the more people using it the better the data would be.
