Come for a lovely Sunday Drive with the Family to Brasso Seco and see the Smoked Meat Demonstration, Clap as we Dance the Cocoa, learn about the Importance of our Environment and Local Animals, Eat Food from Several Country Areas and Smoked Meats, Live Parang, Cocoa Dancing, Pastelles Home Made Ice Cream.. much, much more!!
Brief History:Brasso Seco
Hidden in the Northern Range of Trinidad’s rainforest,.
Brasso Seco is located an hour’s drive from the Piarco Airport and 45 minutes from Arima, the nearest ‘city.’
With a population of around 300, this small village has a few shops in the heart of the village along with a bar, Catholic Church, Primary School, Community Centre, Visitors Facility, Health Clinic and small Post Office in addition to a few host homes and guest houses for visitors.
Originally established in the early 1900’s as a Cocoa and Coffee plantation, the area is still rich with assorted fruit trees and is surrounded by pristine rain forests full of crystal clear rivers, countless waterfalls and a plethora of birds, butterflies, mammals, reptiles & insects.
Driving directions:
From the Churchill Roosevelt Highway take the Demerara Road Exit.
Follow this road for 12 miles as you head up into the forested mountains and pass Lalaja Road, Asa Wright Nature Centre and then start your descent.
At a small bus shed, stay straight (Left will take you to Blanchisseuse) and enter into Brasso Seco as you head 4 miles into the Madamas Valley.
The Visitor Facility is located on the corner of Madamas Road.
