free bulbs will solve all we problems .... :agrue:

Citizens getting their bulbs by April

Citizens can expect a decrease in their electricity bills with the distribution of 1.6 million LED bulbs to 400,000 households in the country.

Public Utilities Minister Robert LeHunte says the distribution will take place by March or April this year and a total of four bulbs will be given to each household.

“It is envisaged that we are talking about approximately 1.6 million bulbs and the bulbs will be distributed throughout the country on a phased basis using a number of distribution mechanisms that would facilitate convenience to the public. We expect to be going out with an appropriate RFP (request for proposals) before the end of this month so that we would be able to source the bulbs at the required standards and at the best price and to facilitate the widest level of participation. We hope to have the distribution some time by March-April,” he said in a telephone interview with the Express yesterday.

The Minister said the programme is “actively” being pursued and was under the purview of former parliamentary secretary Adrian Leonce. LeHunte said there will be millions saved to the State and citizens themselves will continue to use LED bulbs when they see the benefits from it.

He said this programme is a “one-off” initiative.

Why does the govt have to buy bulbs for people? Everybody has been buying bulbs for themselves, why not just educate the population as to the benefits of using LED .Everything have to be freeco so and contract given to some friend or family?

The 40w agos led dusk to dawn real good, same output as them older 300w dusk to dawn.
I replaced 5 of them. Has a very good diffuser which evens out the light and not sharp like the led floodlights

TT, Ghana sign air services MOU
Clint Chan Tack

Image
Public Utilities Minister Robert Le Hunte and Ghana’s Aviation Minister Joseph Kofi Adda signed an air services agreement Memorandum of Understanding (MOU)

TT and Ghana took a step on Sunday towards the establishment of an air services agreement between both countries. A post on the Prime Minister’s Facebook page said Dr Rowley met on with Ghana’s Aviation Minister Joseph Kofi Adda on Sunday.

After the meeting, Public Utilities Minister Robert Le Hunte and Kofi Adda signed an air services agreement Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). The post added that with the MOU signed, both countries will “take the next step towards establishing a mutual air services agreement.”

Another post said Rowley also met with Ghana Energy Minister John Peter Amewu on Sunday in Accra. This meeting focused on energy sector collaboration between TT and Ghana, particularly in the area of gas production and processing. Ghana Deputy Energy Minister Dr Mohammed Amin Adam and the Ghana National Gas Company CEO Benjamin Asante also attended that meeting.

When he addressed Ghana independence celebrations at the Baba-Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi on March 6, Rowley identified energy and agriculture as two areas which TT was seeking to deepen its collaboration with Ghana. He said these efforts underscored the need for an air services agreement between TT and Ghana. Rowley said this would facilitate direct flights between both countries, to facilitate the movement of people and goods.

Rowley left TT on March 1 for London where he held talks with BP executives. He arrived in Ghana on March 3. Finance Minister Colm Imbert was appointed to act as prime minister until Rowley returns.
