Another point of why we should only consume halaal meats.

It was good while it lasted - 2020 -2024

No more Fruta 1 litre - 3/$24.00 at X-tra Foods. Now 2/$21.00

Thank you S.M. Jaleel for the steady Fruta juice price over the past 4 years.

Correct, those so called juices are laden with sugar. Better to dilute or better yet, natural or just water.

A doublesman in Chaguanas Market, the guy with the tattoos all over his face, price gone back down to $5 from $6. The man who sells next to him had never raised it beyond $5 to date.

Nutrimix drops flour prices, cites lower wheat, shipping, operating costs
https://newsday.co.tt/2024/05/11/nutrimix-drops-flour-prices-cites-lower-wheat-shipping-operating-costs/

Nutrimix Flour Mills has reduced some of its flour prices between five and 17 per cent, a move that stakeholders believe will benefit households the most.

A release on Friday said, effective immediately, the prices of its Country Pride and Nutrimix Premium Grade two-kilogramme (kg) and ten-kg range of flour.

It said Country Pride two-kg and ten-kg Bakers flour were reduced by 17 per cent, two-kg All-Purpose by eight per cent and ten-kg by 13 per cent. Its Cake and Whole Wheat flour, two kg bags, were reduced by five per cent. Nutrimix Premium Grade flour, two-kg and ten-kg, were reduced by nine and ten per cent, respectively.

It said the price drop is due to several factors, including the global decrease in wheat prices and shipping costs, its improved internal systems and controls, and its initiatives to increase the efficiency of operations while reducing milling and processing costs.

"As a leading food manufacturer, we are committed to providing our customers with affordable and high-quality products. To this end, we regularly assess our raw material and shipping costs, as well as other expenses related to the production of our products," the release said.

What's the cheapest grade? Also if the cheapest grade never went up, why the price increase?

While a major raw material may have decreased in price that does not mean that their other inputs have also, inflation affects all including doublesmen

Now? That's been around for at least the last decade and probably much longer.

the sweet corn is great
boil 3mins max
otherwise it ends up like regular corn and loses the crisp sweet taste

with boil corn though, once the corn comes to a boil, turn off the stove completely. Cover the pot and leave it be for a half hr and it good. There's no need to keep boiling it for 10, 20, 30 mins.

Pumpkin gone back up $5 / lb in the market.
Good thing I have frozen in the fridge at $1./lb.

Plantain has come down a bit to $5 / lb but it looks suspect. Big ones selling $7/lb.

Vendors say next few months will be rough because they are bracing for La Nina with plenty rain and no transition between El Nino and La Nina - (you know where to place the tilde).

Got some spearmint and mint chocolate plants @ $12 for 1.
Bearing and flowering strawberry plant at $20 for 1.

Food Basket - plenty yogurt 2/1 special - $10.95. But watch those "made with a genetically engineered ingredient" on the label.
