The Organization of National Construction (ONR) under Karl-Hudson Phillips and the Democratic Action Congress under ANR Robinson in the 70s. They were formed from the backdrop of Black Power against Eric Williams and the PNM. They went on to merge with the ULF and Tapia to form the National Alliance for Reconstruction (NAR) in the mid-80s.
They are correct.Gladiator wrote:The_Honourable wrote:Rovin wrote:anybody cud recall any other party that came out from d pnm besides this 1 ? , i cant think of any .......

LOL... had a conversation with a group of people the other day and they swear by their mother that Eric Williams led the black power movement and created equal rights for them.... and if it wasn't for PNM they would cant get jobs today.
PNM was never involved in any Black power movement. They was totally against it they even ordered to use full force to curb it and this where Raffic Shar disobeyed orders and landed in hot waters.Rovin wrote:its a interesting read when trinidad had its Black Power Revolution where some of d big names of today started from https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_Power_Revolution

Williams did nothing for black power.

Williams did nothing for black power.
That is correct.
After black power and the army mutiny in 1970, Williams attempted to change the Public Order Act to control dissident groups from protesting against his government. Karl-Hudson Phillips was AG at the time and williams assigned him to deal with it. Robinson who just resigned challenged the move where williams and phillips backed down. Of course pnmites would ignore Williams part in this play as they believe he did no wrong and solely blame Phillips hence "ah fraid karl" came about especially when Phillips left the PNM 3 years later. Williams had his mind on Phillips not because of the failure to change the Act but that Phillips had files on O'Halloran forcing Williams to remove him from the PNM.
Another thing, Williams even banned the man himself who came up with the term 'Black Power" and who was key in the US Civil rights movement. Port of Spain born Stokely Carmichael also known as Kwame Ture.
The PNM does not like black leaders or scholars and even calypsonians that don't tow the line. Butler died poor in Point Fortin where Makandal Daaga and NJAC was bankrupt. Creditors nearly gone with his property until Jack Warner helped him out in 2009. Daaga ended up joining PP because of Jack. Remember how pnmites treat a bright mind like Morgan Job?
The PNM don't want afro-trinis especially in the depressed PNM areas getting bright and thinking for themselves. The only "black leader" they should know is a PNM leader and Eric Williams worked perfectly for decades.

Seems crime and murders don't affect PNM people.
