Me too.

i used the men's one a day for sometime, but I switched to Centrum Performance recently. (no reason, one day the pharmacy did not have it)
Since I've been on a limited diet for quite a while, the vitamins help quite a bit to supplement what I miss from regular meals.

I love my vitamins raw where the body treats and breaks it down as a food. The GNC and Centrum 21 vitamins often sold are generally full of fillers and synthetic vitamins that are not from natural sources and require you taking several of them throughout the day. I avoid those brands at all cost.

I currently use New Chapter Organics Multivitamin for Women. A bit on the expensive side but you get what you pay for in this instance!

For those using GNC Mega Men, a review worth reading:

This is probably the most over-rated multivitamin right now; the sad thing is, most people who buy this tend to think that they are buying something way better than Centrum or One-A-Day (as if that really says anything).

These vitamins are in caplet forms (which is basically just a coated tablet) and they are huge. If you're not good at swallowing pills then this multi should be avoided.

Now, let's talk about the quality of this product, after all, most of us take vitamins to improve our health so let's see if this multivitamin has what one would really need:

The good thing is that 50% of the vitamin A is in the form of beta-carotene. And unfortunately that's about where the good stops and where the rest of the cheapness of this vitamin begins:

It lists the calcium as a mixture of calcium carbonate and calcium citrate. Calcium carbonate is a very cheap form of calcium and has a very low absorption rate in the body. Most cheap vitamins (such as Centrum and One-A-Day) uses calcium carbonate because it's cheap and the general public doesn't know any better. Calcium citrate on the other hand, is a very expensive but possibly the best form of calcium available. GNC's Mega Men does a tactic to fool people into thinking they are getting quality calcium: they mix both the carbonate and citrate forms of calcium together, without even stating what percentage of the calcium is in the carbonate form and what percentage is in the citrate form. For all we know, this could be 99% calcium carbonate and only 1% calcium citrate.

Another cheap ingredient is magensium in the form of magensium oxide. Again, magnesium citrate is the superior form of magnesium. This time GNC doesn't even try to disguise their cheap magnesium, it is just straight up cheap magnesium oxide. Zinc is also in a cheap oxide form.

Vitamin B12 is in the cheap cyanocobalmin form, which methylcobalamin is the active form of B-12, another strike against this cheap multi in disguise of a quality product.

This vitamin does give 200mcg of selenium which is the desired amount to get the most health benefits according to the latest research... too bad it's not in the L-Selenomethionine form which is the active form of selenium.

The list goes on on why this is actually not that great of a vitamin, but the topper, to top everything off, it contains titanium dioxide which is a possible carcinogen.

Bottom line: look for another multi. This is really not much better than Centrum of One-A-Day, but it sure is a HECK of a lot more expensive!

Tips to look for in a multiviatmin:

-Vitamin A as 100% betacarotene (the safest form of vitamin A, unless you smoke, in which case beta-carotene can increase your chances of lung cancer)

-minerals in either citrate or amino acid chelate forms, but NOT carbonates or oxides, i.e. calcium citrate & magnesium citrate (not mixtures such as what this multi does)

-methylcobalmin for vitamin B-12

-200mcg of selenium in the L-selenomethionine form

-capsule, softgel or liquid is the perferred form since caplets/tablets have a harder time dissolving and some brands have been found to not dissolve at all... for the record, GNC Mega Men's does not have this problem.

-Avoid vitamins that have artificial fillers or objectionable ingredients, such as titanium dioxide.

Almost no multivitamin is going to be completely perfect so some additional supplementing is almost always going to be needed. But this multivitamin just has too many flaws to over-come.

DUDE, do your research. Look at your ingredients, research it and tell us what you find. All that was said above is FACTUAL. Science cannot be interpreted.

I'm not sure what is available locally, but I advise folks avoid the more popular brands (and generally cheaper) on the market. Centrum 21, GNC, One a Day...save your money.

If folks can Skybox products in or travel overseas regularly, I suggest you pick up New Chapter Organics Every Man's MV:

Yeah redoxon or the emergen C

My mother used to call the redoxon 'fizzer' and the pharmacy labels used to cover the label.

It was years before we saw the brand name.

Fizzer stuck I guess.

icefox, weightloss is 70% nutrition and 30% exercise from what iv learned. To put it in perspective how much your diet plays in weightloss, exercise 7 days a week and eat massive amounts of high calorie sugar food, a total crap diet and you wont lose an ounce but dont exercise at all and eat healthy, clean and count your calorie intake and you WILL lose weight, not as fast as you will like but the weight will come off. Combine them in the right amounts and you gonna drop fat like crazy. So if u not seeing results then you need to dial in your nutrition.
I make my lunch for the next day the night before, i get up 20mins earlier and make breakfast. If im to tired after my workout to make dinner we have some high protein meal replacement drinks posted here already and its very tasty.
STOP making excuses to eat healthy.
My vehicles is packed with almons and I always carry friut and baby carrots with me so even if im stuck in traffic i wont pull over to the closet fast food joint ill just have the healthy stuff i walk with to hold me over.

Serious question.

How Dow we tell the difference in quality of vitamins?

I've taken all those mentioned - mainly because I would buy whatever is easiest.

Are there objective ways to tell the difference?

just crushed back and biceps doing supersets, 1hr 15mins, had 4 boiled eggs after, one whole, 3 egg whites, some baby carrots, 1/2 scoop of designer whey protein, 1%milk and a banana, approx. 40grams of protein.

icefox, i get some ideas from these 2 sites among others, i modify the ingredients a bit and change up according to what type of work out im doing on the specific day.

http://www.lowcarbfriends.com/bbs/low-c ... meals.html

http://yourlighterside.com/your-lighter-side-cookbook/

I work late today so no time to prepare lunch for tomorrow, or else ill miss some sleep so ill probably buy baked or bbq chicken breast (no addition dressing or sauces other than what it was cooked with), pull out the skin and have some steamed veggies, im sure there are places that sell that all over.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0013O ... PDKIKX0DER

well i've been searching for a protein suppliment that isnt packed with fillers and cals and carbs..
something almost pure...gram for gram so it will help in the belly fat loss which is my present goal....
when i get that goal, i'll switch to the bulking phase where i can control it better without being big and having a big belly as i've seen on most ppl.

the serving size is one scoop and it equals 28g of which 25g is protein!!
and you need 2 and a little extra to fill ONE scoop of Serious MASS...so double the protein, minus the fillers
i've been using it 2 weeks now and i must say its nice...mixes creamy in the cold water and tastes pretty good...and i can use it as a post workout suppliment after gym(9-10pm) without worrying much about the carbs/cals

hear lip 6 black is works exceptionally well.

Anyway, dont have a problem with the fat burners, some people just need the extra push or have a time line to stick to with their weight loss. Personally i dont use it cause as with every pill you take there are side effects and i dont want to further tax my liver, de alco have that on lock already  and im taking the slow approach as i want to changed my entire eating habits for good so i can stick to a healthier lifestyle. Ive heard the lip6 black works really well but it comes with the stomach cramps.

Gym/Work out enthusiasts and fanatics: what are you using to monitor your HR, calories and fat burnt? I've had a Polar watch and HR sensor monitor for years and am looking to upgrade with a new model but wanted to know if there are any other brands worth considering.
