Nokia CEO Stephen Elop faced some tough questions from a Finnish TV presenter this week, focusing on the upcoming Lumia 928 handset. In a show aired on commercial TV station MTV3 in Finland, Elop is repeatedly questioned about when the company plans to introduce its Lumia 928 Verizon flagship handset. Elop claims he doesn't know what the Lumia 928 is because the company hasn't announced it, before trying to divert the questioning to the recently launched Lumia 620.
The presenter is equally persistent, and decides to show he has an iPhone. "Oh, how embarrassing," jokes Elop, while the presenter explains he doesn't want an iPhone, he wants a Nokia phone. "I'll take care of that," says Elop, before launching the phone onto a floor with a reassuring thud. The iPhone never returns onscreen, so its fate is unknown, but Elop promises to replace it with a Nokia so not all is lost.

dont leave your s3 just yet. The s3 is still one of the best smart phones on the market. My suggestion is to wait till microsoft updates or launches a new windows phone with some updates. Especially the app market. I sold my lumia and went to apple, but im still looking to see when or if the changes that need to make the windows OS better has been addressed. My 2 cents.

when i think WP i think nokia... the new htc's are gorgeous but nokia just delivers a better device and experience.
The Lumia 920 (and even 720) are hands down better hardware devices than the Galaxy S3.gastly369 wrote:im jumping WP ship :s

This here is the "problem". WP is the best mobile OS out there and it has some of the best hardware behind it but apps arent coming fast enough. I blame MS for not pushing harder.
But seriously... there is nothing I as a regular user cant do that my iphone friends can. What apps do you really need from on iOS or Android that you cant get (or equivalent) on WP.
The tight integration on WP8 is working to bring more apps and games.. why the fack MS cant get my xbox live games in is beyond me.
The latest Kantar nos. show steady (but slow) growth in all major markets to the chicken/egg scenario of user for apps/apps for users will improve.
i recommend WP to everybody i know now... but like i tell everybody in the market... its not the hardware u buying... its the ecosystem... and yea WP is behind android and iOS in terms of pure app quantity but quality wise its not so big a gap that u gonna feel useless

I disagree.
For starters the Win OS is a better looking in terms of the metro layout then either IOS or droid, the email client i think is better (im generally talking about nokia here and os mango) but apart from that, i dont see where the windows system is better than droid or IOS. With IOS everything just works and is well thought out, its a quality device and no one would feel like they got duped into buying into apple system apart from the stupid itunes and accessories that apple tries to sell you.
Android on samsung is great for power users and ppl who like to fiddle and tweak their phones. Plenty great features and technology on their phones and it is well though out also. Apps are good and most are free. Its just that samsung's build quality on their phones IMO are lacking compared to apple, nokia and HTC.
Nokia with wind OS could be good if microsoft would fix its many little problems. Im sure many who own the win OS mango system will be familiar with. To be honest after moving to IOS i do not miss the win OS one bit and i praise the usability and quality of the apps for IOS. For example whats app for winOS is complete and absolute rubbish. I used to miss messages all the time with it. you couldnt change the background wallpaper, you could set a custom alert, the update lag times were ridiculous. Everytime you go back to the home screen then go back into whats app it was a waiting process, sometimes the messages wont come right away either. With IOS non of that crap, it just works with lost of features. Even my e71 with symbian os has a whats app that worked flawlessly. And this is just one app, i aint start to talk about the others like words with friends, viber, evernote, and all the popular apps on all 3 platforms, which windows OS does have btw.
As i said windows OS needs some more time to develop and mature to be able to take ppl away from the IOS and droid in the way microsoft needs it too. Otherwise it will be left in the dark by itself only sort after by loyalist and new comers. My 2cents.

Good news for WhatsApp users, an upcoming update will greatly enhance user experience of the popular messenger app and we have the full details.
Currently in beta, the last version is 2.9.69 and the team looks to be aiming for a 3.0 release in the near future. Head past the break for all the exciting specifics!
The biggest change will make a lot of users happy: WhatsApp is finally ditching the music API that constantly leaves a blank song “streaming”, a method that "keeps alive" the connection to the WhatsApp service. Instead, they have completely re-written the background agent so that it behaves like every other Windows Phone app, including access to it in the Settings > Background Tasks section (see image above).
Other additions include larger image support (so inline images are easier to view), notification fixes and fast resume. In other words, this may be the big update many of us have been wanting with this service.
WhatsApp has been working with Nokia to greatly improve the messaging platform and with the last few release, it has become much better. Now, with version 3.0 on the horizon, WhatsApp finally looks to be coming into its own for Windows Phone. Below is the latest Changelog, though more features may be added before this gets released to the public:
- v2.9.63 attempts to fix hanging on WP8
- v2.9.69 (submitted on 16-04)
In addition to UI improvements we've rewritten our background agent code for increased performance (biggest plus no more music API usage)
New smileys
Fixes notification issues for WP8 users.
Users can now see smileys on the double wide tile.
Fast resume. (If the app is open and you click on the incoming notification it opens as if in Android, very fast really)
On the start-up now it ask you to backup your chat history.

We've also heard back from the WhatsApp team regarding the geotagging issue that we reported on recently. They are working with Microsoft to fix the problem and take user privacy seriously. Though they cannot provide an ETA for a fix to that, they are working on it.
