The supermarkets association made the call. Obviously we expect the big chains to make a release and pull the products off the shelves.

The thing is, alluh vex because she said it or alluh vex because she talk the truth? Its debatable if this is something to talk for JP to see but at the same time, dont fool yourselves into thinking that she was mischievous on the comments. Remember a former (now deceased) UNC Senator made a similar remark several years ago? He was fired but the problem existed back then as well. What they are asking us to do is to ignore the dependency syndrome but continue to highlight UNC people tief (more on this later).

Also look at the crime composition from location to the type of individual doing it. Look at the jails and see the ethnic breakdown. Pull the DB reports from Social Development and see for yourself who and where handouts basically go to.

The schoolgirl, referring to herself as “Granny Quila”, posted a video on two social networking sites, YouTube and Facebook, where she hurled remarks at Persad-Bissessar in relation to the declaration of a State of Emergency and curfew restrictions in certain communities.

Attorney General Anand Ramlogan two Saturdays ago said the video was forwarded to Police Commissioner Dwayne Gibbs for the incident to be investigated. Gibbs has confirmed that a police probe has been launched into the incident and remains ongoing.

That investigation is being led by ACP Harold Phillip, head of Anti-Crime Operations.
Last Sunday, the schoolgirl posted a second video where she apologised to Persad-Bissessar for the offensive video.Persad-Bissessar during a recent ceremony in Penal said she accepted the teenager’s apology.
A statement posted on the PM’s Facebook wall on Friday stated that she met with the teenager regarding the video. The statement is as follows:

The Honourable Kamla Persad-Bissessar Prime Minister today met with the young lady alleged to have created a hostile video blog posted on a number of social networks. The Honourable Prime Minister, along with Minister of Gender, Youth and Child Development, Senator the Honourable Verna St Rose Greaves, met with the young teen, who was accompanied by her mother and legal representative.

Strangely enough I feel this whole boycott campaign may end up having the opposite effect in the long run. Firstly ain't nobody in Trinidad gonna boycott a damn thing. The larger supermarket chains will pull the product as a form or PR and protecting their business but the smaller groceries will continue.Chinese grocery proprietors who can't even read English much know who is Naila Ramsaran or whater her name is will continue to sell it. And realistically who going in big boy places like Massy to buy a Ramsarans anyway, that's more for sufferers. Secondly nobody remembers any event in Trinidad older than two weeks, so when the bigger supermarkets eventually reintroduce the product nobody will even remember there was a boycott. Thirdly and I can only speak for myself on this one, but since the whole fiasco I started doing a lil research into the company since I couldn't recall consuming their products after primary school and was surprised to see they have a range of stuff besides milk. I may try some soon , not to make a political statement or anything and not that I support the statements made by the bird, but just because of newly sparked interest in the product and I'm sure others may as well. Lastly the very people discriminated against will not boycott especially if they reduce prices as a form of 'apology' and giving back to the community who supported them.
