15ft I think? To usually clear lines on poles. That is why them music trucks on carnival can't go high like long time.

I see plenty container trucks who barely clear lines, some does be like a foot from the wires

... therefore, something has to change. Either they do like pellet gun and ban the extra tall, because it cannot work with our infrastructure, or modify our infrastructure to work with the newer equipment in the market.

Cheaper to force trucks to comply, airbag trucks don't have this issue, it have plenty older trucks that have a higher rear to compensate for carrying a 25-30t load which levels it out, but when you take a 6t container and put it on that truck, that front part of the container is higher up in the air.

I doubt. The overpass didn't stop the truck so only some of the momentum from the truck would have acted as a force on the overpass. If the overpass completely stopped the truck then there would have been greater potential for damage.

Saw this as I was leaving PoS around midday yesterday. Was on a flatbed though so wasn't sure if the accident happened under that overpass or somewhere else.

The simple solution is to put up signs warning of height restrictions passing under bridges and overpass. After that, truck man have to pay for any damage caused because its his responsibility to know the height of his cargo.

You're talking about the same truck men, dump trucks, trailer trucks (unloaded or worse yet, loaded) and the like, who fly down the highway, wet road or dry, bobbing and weaving, 'bumpering' men as though their extremely heavy vehicles can stop or even slow down as fast as a passenger vehicle, right?? These men don't use common sense to understand momentum, you think they'll be bothered to read a sign and check their height?

I was in a Defensive Driving Course a time, and the instructor was telling us about a class he taught in which the owners of the company told their drivers, if a vehicle pulls in front of you suddenly such that you can still stop safely but not without damaging the truck, don't mash brakes from far behind the vehicle, instead wait until you reach mere feet away and then mash, so investigators will see short tread marks from the truck instead of long ones on the roadway, making it look like the truck wasn't speeding but the driver in front was negligent, because they say, it's cheaper to pay for a whole family, but under no circumstances, will you put my truck off the road..you think these truck drivers care?? They know they're basically invincible..

For trailer trucks they can know by the height of the truck, the level of the platform and height of the container on said platform. They wont even have to use measuring tape. Works and transport ministry know all the measurements for alll the vehicles on our road. Roads and birdge heights being identified could deter trucks of a certain size from using certain roads and seek alternative routes. That is traffic manipulation. Well within their scope.

Ding, ding, ding,

That is what I was alluding to. They know the law, yet still choose to do it.
And who was the truck doing th job for? Does the liability stand with the contractor or with the body that hired them.

even though the liability may stop with the contractor, given that they were working for the army, they should have made a final check to ensure the contractor is maintaining legal standards, to PREVENT this same scenario.

the east junction of that short/cross street has many accidents but not like this

I suspect due to cars parked on the road, someone drove in the middle of the road(two way)
and caused this
too many persons subconsciously cannot stay on their side of the road when cars are parked along their lane
they stray and drive 3ft from the parked cars on the left ie in the middle of a two lane marked road
very common on the two way streets around the oval and in woodbrook

Another case of the driver wrong for sure. Always be cautious when approaching Zebra Crossings.........AND also pops was careless. A Zebra Crossing does not have an invisible forcefield around it. Still exercise caution...

Some pedestrians/drivers also believe visibility is the same whether it's 12am or 12pm

He talk about them not locking the trailer pins in so the containers fall off the trailer bed instead of jackknifing into the cabin? Cuz I feel we went the same class.

Yup that's true about truck drivers. It cheaper for them to fight a insurance claim for 10 years and wait for family members to die off and eventually settle for small money. They could pay a lawyer a 100k a year for ten years and delay a 5 or 10 million judgment just so they could use the 5 or 10 million for 10 years
