Congrats to Messi on winning the Golden Boot for last season's excellent performance.
http://msn.foxsports.com/foxsoccer/europe/story/barcelona-star-lionel-messi-wins-golden-boot-award
Lionel Messi was presented with the Golden Boot award on Thursday for being the top scorer across the domestic leagues in Europe last season.

The Argentina forward received the prize for having accumulated 34 goals to help Barcelona retain its Spanish league title.

"All awards are special, but it is thanks to the help of my teammates that I have won," Messi said. "I just try to play well and do the things as best I can for my team and my coach."

Messi now joins Marco van Basten, Ronaldo and Cristiano Ronaldo as the only players to have won all three major individual awards: the Golden Boot, FIFA World Player of the Year and the Golden Ball, given to the European footballer of the year.

Chelsea forward Didier Drogba and Udinese striker Antonio di Natale were tied for second place with 29 goals each.

The prize comes after a lackluster Messi had failed to score a single goal at the World Cup in South Africa. Even so, former Argentina coach Diego Maradona said Wednesday that Messi deserved the award and hoped he would "win many more."

Messi is the second Barcelona player to be honored by European Sports Magazine. Ronaldo earned the club's first Golden Boot by also scoring 34 goals, in the 1996-97 season.

Barcelona captain Carles Puyol applauded Messi's ability and character.

"He is the best in the world, but he is humble. He improves everyday," Puyol said before the awards ceremony. "He is the best player in the world and he demonstrated that he deserves this award."

Uruguay striker Luis Suarez scored 35 goals last season for Ajax in the Netherlands, but failed to win due to the points system that compensates for the degree of difficulty posed by the major European leagues (English, French, German, Italian and Spanish).

So far this season, Messi has scored two goals in three games in the Spanish league.

football mafia have the bpl table lookin so.. u eh see fergie normal normal
united only have 1 established winger in nani as giggs out for 2-3weeks and valencia out for the season.. hernandez does look really promising.. bebe im not too sure about i think that is some sort of publicity stunt but from the few videos ive seen he can cross a ball but it may be a while before he gets any sort of games..but hernandez does look like he would be a badass
i must say i was disappointed overall by united game saturday it was the poorest showing i could ever remeber seeing..but credit to sunderland for marking united midfield out the game which basically killed off supply to the front men..neither macheda or owen had any supply an was horrible.. i still hold owen in high regard but i see him leaving in the summer ..and i dont hold him accountable for his poor showing or would say he didnt try to get into the game..i saw him many times in midfield even in utd's own half but say what..he one hell of a finisher

chelsea they are a strong team but what makes them that solid is their experience..any1 noticed the average age of the regular established first team players? just now they would have to pelt out endless money to buy back a new team lol

man city..they just lucky united having problems..and man city i dont see being too successfull int he long rung.. united and chelsea would assure that.. has anyone noticed that adeybayor or however you spell is name is unhappy an has hardly played? what about robinho? city has like what? 11 strikers? there will be too much unrest within that sqaud as the the salaries what some players get makes other players look like dog sheit..afaic man city is just a big pay day..the players havent shown any real desire or passion for the club only tevez but thats how he plays..he will be gone when his contract expires as he said so i believe

liverpool where do i begin? liverpool tried to keep it traditional by hiring a british manager..while he has proven himself at a mid table club he was never going to be a success imo..the players have no desire or will to play for him as he is not a world class manager and they are world class players.. but again i would think that liverpool owners have a hand in that with a very stingy approach going for a cheaper option manager.. also liverpool has lost some really good players and havent really replaced them..liverpool know they ass gonna be in trouble as there is some uncertainty over torres and gerrard..
one reason i think torres is not performing is he signed liverpool mostly because of benitez and to be replaced by a manager who has never won anything is disappointing to him an the rest of the squad..

the english league suffers alot because of a lot of foreigners and alot of people blame the top 4 clubs for that but at the end of the day if british players have no desire to work hard to make it to that level then why bother to have a mediocre player at a top club? also another reason the national team suffers is the price of english players are stupidly inflated

Spain calls up Valencia's Aritz Aduriz to replace Fernando Torres for European qualifiers

Spanish national team coach Vicente del Bosque called up Valencia striker Aritz Aduriz on Monday to replace injured Liverpool forward Fernando Torres for the upcoming 2012 European Championship qualifiers against Lithuania and Scotland.

Aduriz was one of four new faces brought into the Spain squad due to injuries. The other three are right winger Pablo Hernandez, also from league-leader Valencia, and midfielders Bruno Soriano and Borja Valero from second-placed Villarreal.

They replace Liverpool's Torres, Barcelona's Pedro Rodriguez and Jesus Navas, after all three picked up problems playing for their clubs over the weekend.

The World Cup winners are also without Barcelona midfielder Xavi Hernandez, Arsenal's Cesc Fabregas and Real Madrid's Raul Albiol because of injury.

Spain plays Group D opponents Lithuania on Friday and Scotland next Tuesday.

Nah but seriously...most ppl here, have their teams since 19 how long.

This thread isn't for fleeting fans or new comers, I'm just saying the majority of Spain die-hard fans won't be found here. Because most die-hard Spain fans are relatively new. Most ppl in this thread been watching/playing football for eons, so our teams would've been declared ages ago.
