i went pub house on d Ave. last friday b4 the safe zones were removed (they were still obeying the law by asking for vax card) and it was crowded even then. cud imagine this friday coming places go be cram with unvaxxed who was stuck at home for over a year.

no one except 1 or 2 ppl was wearing a mask even though they were not drinking/eating. ttps need to police that. i wore mine indoors and only took it off in the open air area to drink.

this might very well be a temporary breather for a couple weeks, especially with that BA.2 strain spreading - a roll back is still possible so be responsible.

has MOH updated the list of symptoms lately?

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2022/apr/04/uk-covid-symptoms-list-expanded-with-nine-more-signs-of-illness

The official list of Covid-19 symptoms on the NHS has been extended to cover nine new symptoms, including sore throat, fatigue and headache.

They join the three symptoms of a fever, a new and persistent cough, and a loss or change in taste or smell, according to nhs.uk.

Extending the list may help reduce infections by helping people detect whether they may have Covid; however, it coincides with the end of the offer of free universal Covid-19 tests to help people confirm whether they have the virus.

Covid infection levels have hit a record high in the UK, with almost 5 million people estimated to be infected.

The new signs are:

Shortness of breath.
Feeling tired or exhausted.
An aching body.
A headache.
A sore throat.
A blocked or runny nose.
Loss of appetite.
Diarrhoea.
Feeling sick or being sick.

A note on the website states: “The symptoms are very similar to symptoms of other illnesses, such as colds and flu.”

The UK has had just three symptoms on the list since the emergence of the virus two years ago, despite other organisations such as the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Centres for Disease Control and Prevention in the US having longer symptom lists for some time.

It is understood the government’s chief medical officer would have needed to sign off on the expanded list of symptoms.

In England, some people still qualify for free tests in certain circumstances, but most people are now expected to pay or go without. Under the previous testing regime people only qualified for PCR tests if they had one of the three symptoms or if they had been invited to take a test.

Prof Tim Spector, the lead scientist of the Zoe Covid-19 symptom tracker app, praised the decision in a tweet in which he said the NHS had “finally changed” the symptom list after two years of lobbying. “Pity they have the order wrong, but it’s a start and could help reduce infections,” he said.

In March he suggested that the shorter symptom list, along with the decision to drop isolation advice and withdraw free testing, could have driven up transmission rates.

Spector said last month: “Many people are no longer isolating when they have symptoms, either because they feel they don’t have to any more or because they or their employers still don’t recognise symptoms like runny nose or sore throat as Covid.”

On Friday the Office for National Statistics (ONS) said that 4.9 million people in the UK were estimated to have had Covid-19 in the week ending 26 March, up from 4.3 million in the previous week. The ONS said an estimated one in every 13 people in England had the virus during that week.

TTUTA's president reveals life threatening condition, and long Covid
In a statement today, De Freitas said that in November 2021, she was infected with the virus.

She said : “After the quarantine period was over I continued to suffer from what can be described as long Covid. This situation came to a head on the morning of Tuesday March 22, when I was rushed to the emergency room of the (Mt Hope) hospital for a suspected heart attack”.

According to De Freitas: “following a series of tests it was realised that it was not a health attack but deep vein thrombosis and the clot had broken up and began travelling through my bod.

Never seen a fit person get any of the issues under the long covid umbrella. Perhaps its the people who were precariously balanced and covid was what tipped the scale?

i speaking for myself, but we really should stop these daily press releases with the covid figures.

The daily covid count on news, etc, creating too much undue stress on the public. keep the same information, move it to weekly releases or bi-monthly releases with the scheduled press conferences, and let the public kinda get a breather from it

covid will always be there, no need to remind people daily. them just tiring we out now.

we need a reminder that covid is still a pandemic by WHO and the PNM want to vaccinate people 5+ old children without WHO approval. we need to take measures to protect ourself not open every crack and create a free for all and spread it more.just to cover the sheit show in paria the entire country will suffer. remember the movie taken? imagine your child is taken by covid cause baldy covering for he pally wals.

The Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) reported on Wednesday that the Americas registered more than 620,000 new covid19 cases during the last week and in some places infections are still increasing.
Dr Carissa Etiene, director of PAHO, said in the weekly webinar that in the Caribbean, 15 countries and territories witnessed a sharp rise in cases and deaths.
However, she said these numbers can be misleading because some countries are reclassifying deaths from earlier than recent weeks.
She said: “This comes after the increase in cases in Europe and Asia following the omicron BA.2 variant. This same variant has been observed in 8.7 per cent of the sequences reported in the Americas.
“Omicron circulation is generating sharp rises. We must face this together and with caution. We know what we need to protect our people,” Etienne said.

Meanwhile daily deaths worldwide at the lowest level since the 1st half of 2020. Let's hope deaths doesn't increase here as we have a low vaccination rate compared to more developed countries.

While hygiene I necessary it won't stop airborne spread in restaurants and bars where virtually no one wearing a mask and the place crowded.

daz cool, but i not the one pretending to be an expert in everything, and also failing to put oneself in other's shoes who suffer the consequences for things you guys can simply brush off. the biggest misconception is you all think your ideas are 'grand' yet all you do is type it here and do nothing else in reality.

With BA2 spreading things will get bad again. I say bring back safe zones but with a difference. Allow ppl with natural immunity access as well. Ban those without either vaccinated or natural immunity.
