Pentagon Press Conference on the Russian ICBM launch yesterday revealed that the Russians notified the US beforehand about the missile launch and I guess it makes perfect sense since in the absence of notification the US could also have assumed the target would be them and initiate MAD.

Russia is at least still following The Hague Code of Conduct Against Ballistic Missile Proliferation (HCOC).

These aim to prevent accidental conflicts by ensuring open communication during missile tests or military activities involving strategic weapons.

I'd say a good thing since we all know nothing is gonna happen. It's wartime PR.

Russians are corrupt, but they also aren't suicidal and stupid. They're playing this game very tentatively.

Putin knows while the economy looks great right now, but war long term isn't sustainable and will firetruck up their economy long term.

They want to scale this down, and use their experience to rebuild the army and up their game in military production. It's a massive industry and having field tested their equipment they can gain many new customers.

I'm far more curious as to what Trump does. They may not give a sheit and might try to get Russia dependent on the west again, away from China.

That's interesting , didn't consider trump might try to make amends.
I'm thinking the neocons too interested in attacking Russia to drive up mic stock prices , and yhe media work over the last two decades to make Russia as 5he ever present evil, and undermine their world standing , might be too much Shame to walk back. But US officials have no Shame.

Russia will have to decide if us will stick to their words and not stab them in the back, and if the next administrations will reverse their decisions.

Imo, usa have proven time and time again to be deceitful and untrustworthy , and would be prudent to continue the push to multipolarity.

Let the us world dominance die it's natural death .

saber rattling does not make sense because the west does not respond rationally to actions, threats, provocations or outcomes.

makes sense for russia to just ignore diplomacy entirely and act for as much advantage as it can

If anyone follows Trump you would know he actually hates war. And more from the pov he finds it to be wasteful money wise.

Rubio has already stated as SoS he wants a settled solution which will inevitably mean Ukraine giving up those oblasts Russia already has.

The problem is Russia signs agreements and reneges once they have military superiority.

We all know how well the Budapest Memorandum was followed by the Russians
As a side note I didn't know Anthony Blinken's father was part of the Budapest Signings till today.

War debts are not insurmountable.
Japan and Germany emerged from WW2 to become economic powerhouses.
South Korea overcame their devastating war to be what they are now.
Vietnam is stable and in what may be a surprise to most hold one of the most favourable views of the USA.

The problem - Ukraine (and Russia) have the lowest fertility rates in all of Europe. Ukraine also lost millions of persons to migration. Hard to grow economically without people

I agree.

Ukraine’s biggest challenge after the war won’t just be rebuilding—it’ll be demographics. With low fertility rates and millions of its most productive people leaving the country, Ukraine faces a population crisis that could cripple its recovery. Even if the war ends, a shrinking workforce and brain drain make it hard to see how the country thrives long-term.

Some argue that early negotiations could have prevented the escalation. Trump and others in the GOP, moving away from neoconservative policies, have suggested prioritising peace deals that could also bring Russia into a more Western-aligned sphere of influence. This approach contrasts with Biden and Europe, who doubled down on sanctions and military aid instead of pushing for a ceasefire early on.

Meanwhile, Russia’s financial resilience—low debt and nearly a trillion dollars in reserves from oil booms—helped it weather sanctions better than expected. Western efforts to cripple Russia’s economy backfired in many ways, and now Ukraine’s demographic and economic struggles risk making it a weaker state even after the war ends.

So a petition calling for a re election is viral in UK.
Bloggers say that any petition like that reaching over 100k tends to be discussed in parliament and this one gained 2.5m in 24 hrs.

Starmer seems to to have very globalist agendas , anti Russia and anti Palestine .

This may give that govt cause to rescind some of thier positions ... Especially Russia.

Google say uk have 68m people, and 100k is like 0.14% , and is enough to trigger events that may bring about a snap election ...
Thats interesting
Trinidad 1.4m 0.14% is 1960 persons....
Hmmm.

Most likely.

Many posts about nato members mobilizing equipment and I thjnk someone here posted that they are warning their citizens about being prepared for war.

When u see smoke, u dont wait for the fire to reach to confirm it have a fire ... They hadda be able to respond immediately .

The latest use of atacms in kursk signals a push to escalate . The only way to deter that is to make every attack on Russia a very expensive decision , and prolly then nato may subside .

Thst looks like just above 1.1c to just above 0.9c. A 0.2c drop. That is still just under 20% 'supposed' depreciation .

That is not the value of the ruble , that is the uncoupling of the us based financial systems and the ruble based systems.

Trade of us for ruble is slowing .
But Russian commodities are selling in other markets in other currencies, just not as much in us currency.

This is the most deluded take on all your deluded takes.
For all the grand charge of Russia the use of nuclear weapons on anyone within NATO will guarantee the end of the world. Russia may have nukes and big missiles but even without America, France and the UK has enough firepower within the Triomphe and Vanguard subs to ensure there will be nothing left of Russia either.

No one wins in nuclear war - Putin knows this, Biden and whoever is the real President of America knows, Starmer knows it and Macron knows it. Nobody is going to risk the end of the world. They are megalomaniacs not suicidal.

You do not understand.

When people say :
no one wins a nuclear war , when Einstein answered a question that he didn't know exactly what weapons ww3 will be fought with , but the next world war will be fought with sticks and stones

What those are based on is that when one fires at the other, the other will also fire. So when one is destroyed , the others will also be destroyed .

Its not going to be 'watch and see what happens , then respond in kind'.

All the targets are already decided and locked into the targeting systems. All they need to to is turn the keys and press the buttons and the whole other country is leveled .
When nuke launches are detected , the signal to reply is also given.
Aka, if I going down, everybody going down too. Like the Sampson option, but global.

This is why when Russia launched orisnik , they ensured the message that it was not a nuke went out, so that the nuclear response would not be automatically activated .

It don't have any iron dome or David sling or thaad like systems that could protect against nukes... Especially the launch systems like oresnik

Russian conventional systems is enough to level Europe, so when Europe escalate , Russia can escalate with out resorting to nukes. And that will leave Europe with only the nukes to retaliate .

Russia can dominate Europe, they are not afraid, they just don't want to have to waste the economy on that.
Europe politicians are painting themselves into a military corner.
If is was a European I would be campaigning the govt to stand down .

Biden pushing Ukraine to force teenagers to war – AP

The outgoing White House team reportedly wants Vladimir Zelensky to remove his objections to conscripting the country’s youth

President Joe Biden’s outgoing US administration is urging Ukraine to lower the country’s conscription age to 18, in a desperate bid to increase its military ranks, the Associated Press (AP) reported on Wednesday.

A senior US official, speaking on the condition of anonymity, told the news agency that the White House believes the move is essential in order to bolster Kiev’s fighting capabilities.

Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky has previous pledged not to force his country’s youngest adult men to enlist.

“The pure math is that Ukraine needs more troops,” the official told the agency. “We are talking about increasing the pool of fighting-age men to sustain the fight.”

Ukraine’s lowest conscription age is currently set at 25, but the Biden administration believes lowering the age to 18 will help meet the urgent need for soldiers, the agency added. According to the source, Ukraine has indicated it needs at least 160,000 more troops, but the US government estimates that even this number may not be enough.

More than one million Ukrainians are already enlisted in uniform, including in the National Guard and other units. However, American officials have warned that the existing manpower is not enough to fend off Russia’s increasing military pressure, particularly in areas like the Kursk border region, which Ukraine invaded earlier this year.

The Biden administration has committed over $56 billion in aid to Ukraine since Russia launched its offensive in February 2022. The senior official told the agency however that Ukraine has the necessary weaponry and now needs to prioritize increasing its troop numbers.

“The administration is sharpening its viewpoint,” they added. “It’s about getting the numbers up. The weapons are there, but Ukraine’s troop levels need to match the scale of the challenge.”

This push for more soldiers comes as Kiev faces growing divisions amongst its West European backers, with Germany, France and Britain at odds over long range strikes into Russia and countries such as Slovakia and Hungary calling for peace talks. The White House is reportedly particularly concerned about the strain on Ukraine’s military as it continues to occupy Russian territories and attempt to repel Moscow’s growing advances.

While lowering the conscription age is a sensitive topic, it is believed to be necessary to ensure that Ukraine remains competitive against Russia’s much greater resources, the official said, according to AP.

Mass desertions crippling Ukrainian army – AP

Entire units are walking away as forcibly conscripted soldiers refuse to take orders, the news agency has reported

Mass desertion is “starving” the Ukrainian Army and “crippling” Kiev’s battleplans, as troops flee in their tens of thousands, the Associated Press reported on Friday, citing two soldiers who went AWOL, as well as lawyers and a dozen officials, most of whom spoke on condition of anonymity.

“We have already squeezed the maximum out of our people,” an officer with the 72nd Brigade told the American news agency, explaining why the problem became so acute.

The Prosecutor General’s office lists more than 100,000 soldiers who have been charged over desertion, nearly half of whom quit this year alone, but the actual number is likely significantly higher, AP said. It may be as high as 200,000, one MP told the agency. In some cases, entire units have fled their frontline positions, it was told.

“If there’s no end term [to military service], it turns into a prison – it becomes psychologically hard to find reasons to defend this country,” said one of the deserters, who was named by AP. He was charged shortly after being interviewed.

Earlier this year, Kiev adopted sweeping military service reform, hoping it would bolster the rate of mandatory conscription. The US is now reportedly pushing the Ukrainian government to lower the minimum draft age to 18, down from 25.

Conscription is being brutally enforced by officers and their civilian helpers. One such official said handling his targets is like “dealing with a cornered rat,” The Telegraph newspaper reported earlier this week.

Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky signed a bill into law this week, which waives criminal responsibility for first-time deserters if they volunteer to go back and fight.

In July 2023, Russian President Vladimir Putin warned that a shortage of manpower was the biggest problem facing the Ukrainian military, after a failed “counteroffensive” conducted against Russia earlier that year.

“Ukrainian units have suffered huge losses in their suicidal attacks. Tens of thousands of casualties,” he said during a Russian Security Council meeting.

“Despite constant raids, the never-ending waves of total mobilization in Ukrainian cities and villages, the current regime is finding that sending reinforcements to the front line becomes increasingly difficult,” he added. “The country’s mobilization reserve is being depleted.”

Zelensky has been consistently blaming a shortage of Western-donated weapons for Ukrainian setbacks on the battlefield. Meanwhile Russian officials have accused him of waging a war “to the last Ukrainian” on behalf of the US.

If i was Russia , I keep the kursk forces in kursk over winter . Keep them occupied ,but cut off supply lines .
They some of the best ukriane forces .

Russia already expanded their fronts in donbass. They not increasing the concentration of troops , to minimize losses in strikes. But the lack of resistance is allowing more territory to fall easily .

Only nukes gonna affect Russia now. Put nato troops, they gonna get targeted. Attack from outside Ukraine , that gonna get targeted.

Russia said their weapons production at 10x the combined nato right now, and still expanding.

There is nothing the west can do against Russia now that they can't counter and cripple them with the response .
Its that dire.

Putin speech kinda hinting they will be decapitating Ukraine , and apparently urkraine parliament in bunkers.

I mean, after all the humiliations Putler got in the war so far, almost at every month a new humiliation for the Putler. He is becoming increasingly isolated too, and devastating sanctions are crippling Russia's economy as we speak.

Yet Putler still keeps coming.
