Is this the verison version?

if it ia blackberry and Verizon already know about the problem and they say they say it would be solve by next week, he insnt the only one

nah not the verizon. bought unlocked from Let's Talk in Trincity. So not sure what carrier it was under.. and I'd have to get the sim card associated with Verizon to get the update anyway.. there isnt an ETA for Digicel getting the update unfortunately..
I read up that many ppl manually updated their phones thru BB Desktop Software / BB Link.. just not too sure which update file to use from which carrier and was hoping someone here succeeded in doing so :(

both bmobile and digicel should be releasing at end of this month.

i've seen some corporate customers with digicel z10s already though.

Any feedback on how the staff and corporate users feel about the new BlackBerry platform?

To use Whatsapp I believe you need to be on a minimum 10.0.10.xxx version
What is the OS version?
What is the device variant? (e.g STL-1001, or STL-1003)

you can find the info by going to settings -> About

For BB10 non BES users, the data is no longer compressed and secure as with previous devices.

If that is important to you, make note.

back up the device, remove the sim and in bblink, click restore os ( may take 20 mins)

after the restart, reload your backed up info and ta dah

I think i'm going to have to write a blog post to educate Z10 buyers to ensure the dealer is selling them a variant that works with local 4G, too many STL-1002 devices being sold here and customers finding out after the fact that it wont work with Bmobile or Digi 4G

actually data was working fine before owner decided to update the OS (because whatsapp wasnt working on the stock OS10)

now whatsapp installs, but unable to change APN settings.

I dont think restoring the OS would work.. it'll just restore the current OS version no? that'll be pointless.. I need an OS that allows APN editing AND Whatsapp compatibility.. STL-1002

anyone know where I can get that and how to manually let BB Link install the firmware file? using a mac tho, so hoping VMware would suffice for the OS installs.

Downloadable Z10 OS's for the STL-1002 you will need to use files with a 8700240A hardware ID

http://opensourcebb.com/bb10-oses/

Are you on Digicel? i wonder if they have locked down the APN without providing a working APN like what Bmobile has done.

as for the part in bold, no can't be done at this time

as for whatsapp, i upgraded that yesterday, i actually installed the first version over wifi without my sim in the phone

khafra,

^^ I read it can be done. just need to downgrade my OS somehow using a carrier compatible with STL-002 and didnt lock APN settings.
Got a hold of an Indonesian firmware.
intention is to wipe OS and reload this one i'm getting (1.4gb in size)
how do I go about doing that? it's been a while.. i can do everything with desktop software? or need 3rd party programs?

hmmm and where'd u get your Z10s? depends where u got it.. the os updates would vary according to the sim u had inside at the point of update I think.
I got mine from Let's Talk who got it from the UK. my apn locked to bbweb :/
Before the update, it was editable and working fine on web.digiceltt.com. ugh.

"latest OS" = "Latest OS approved by the carrier for that particular z10 variant"

Carriers have to test and release OS versions on their networks, remember networks worldwide use different radio chips, network bands, etc so they do testing to make sure the OS build meets stability criteria, they don't want an OS going out that ends up flooding their call centres with angry customers.

Given that Bmobile & Digicel will be selling the STL-1001 variant, I only expect them to provide updates for those only.

I am able to update my Z10 LTE because I have T-Mobile and Vodafone sim cards to pop in and check for updates. the update it checks for depends on what sim card you have inserted, you dont even need to be connected to the network or in the same country.

so can i reload an OS without the sim card? and if so, what OS would I be 'loaded' with? the same current one or a more recent one?

my Z10s came directly from BlackBerry, never locked to any network, but i used them on multiple networks from the US to several European countries, never had a problem with the APN.

Also i should note that Digicel's network detects your phone when you try to sign up for a data plan, i am not sure if for some reason the version u're using is causing an issue with that and it's not providing or not able to provide the phone with the correct APN/data plan

great. now I have to really find a compatible STL-1002 firmware somewhere, risk installing a downgraded one and hope I dont brick the phone.

btw, how do u go about wiping the system and installing an earlier OS version providing I have the exe file for the OS I desire already?

i already posted a link to z10 OS versions you can download, check the last page.

when you use the autoloader file, it wipes the device and installs the new OS, the equivalent of what you are looking to do. you just run the autoloader exe and it detects the phone and installs

Yea Digicel seems to be behind Bmobile with BB10 readiness, but it makes sense with what i have been hearing - Bmobile will launch very very very soon ( a matter of days) and Digicel will be ready late April
