He would need to assemble a party of people that willing to take on the task of electoral politics-in a country that is getting harder to run.

And even then -any traction will take at least 2 elections

Gary is correct that there are those within the PNM that feel he was being more popular that the PM and would eventually run against him. By making it public that he is eyeing Rowley's seat, he give them a head start to ensure that PNM fully secures that seat. Unless he is bluffing.

Gary's brand may be able to pull off a minor win here and there but just like COP with Dookeran and ILP with Warner, it will just be 15 minutes of fame. Generally speaking, we are not ready for a third party. Gary and his new party would not win an election.

What he CAN do is to challenge Kamla for UNC leadership. There is a high chance he can win there. Yes he bad talk UNC up until recently but this is politics, many persons who were part of a party bad talk it and eventually go back. Since Griffith has a stronger brand than Kamla, all he have to do is convince the unc grassroots which he can easily do. If he does win, UNC can be easily reinvigorated and be more formidable in 2025 generals.
