Should have gone to check for covid antibodies and general doc checkup to see if they can take the vacc.carluva wrote:Those are some pretty adverse side effects.
You are aware that the possibility exists that a person who has extreme reactions as those could have had the COVID virus in his/her system and the vaccine has triggered the immune response to the virus.
I had 24 hours of fever and chills after my first AZ vaccy. Once subsided, I felt pretty tired for a few days afterwards.
I got my second shot last week and felt great the day after.
Hope the GF feels better and do see her doctor if the side effects don't subside by tomorrow.88sins wrote:my gf went yesterday morning to get her first dose of AZ vaccinate.
last night went to check her, she sicker than a newborn puppy with parvo. fever, vomiting, body aches, cold sweat, loss of appetite, & the usual loss of taste & smell.
Went to check her this a.m., she couldn't even get up to see about the kids, thank God one big enough to handle at least some small scenes like making stuff to eat & cleaning up after themselves.right now is level panadol, coconut water & electrolytes, with the occasional small bite of a sandwich, which may or may not stay down.
We agreed that if by tomorrow morning she don't start improving she going to the dr early o'clock.
Expect to see children younger than 12 to be cleared for vaccination by the WHO in the next few months.redmanjp wrote:so we should have at least 60k Pfizer doses extra which means 30000 adults could get that. at least, cuz not every parent want their child vaxxed (unless they make it mandatory to go to school). so it could be a lot more available.
that is the only one my 70+ yr old dad might take. question is how soon they will expand it to adults
Moderna's vaccine may be best against Delta
The mRNA vaccine from Pfizer and BioNTech may be less effective than Moderna's against the Delta variant of the coronavirus, according to two reports posted on medRxiv on Sunday ahead of peer review. In a study of more than 50,000 patients in the Mayo Clinic Health System https://bit.ly/37Btmhf, researchers found the effectiveness of Moderna's vaccine against infection had dropped to 76% in July - when the Delta variant was predominant - from 86% in early 2021. Over the same period, the effectiveness of the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine had fallen to 42% from 76%, researchers said. While both vaccines remain effective at preventing COVID hospitalization, a Moderna booster shot may be necessary soon for anyone who got the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines earlier this year, said Dr. Venky Soundararajan of Massachusetts data analytics company nference, who led the Mayo study.

"Pfizer expects data on kids ages 5 through 11 in September, with data on toddlers up to age 4 soon after. Moderna's timeline for data on children is likely later this fall or early winter."
