If the property tax database isn't at the halfway mark as required before election is called ,they are going to have some problems. They are trying to implement it long before because they know Trinis get accustomed easily and will forget fast. Especially their base voters when they realise that they are the least affected and the "others" are the ones who getting pressure.

I’m wondering what they going to do in the last two years with property tax and changes to Petrotrin still to come.

A good strategy to pull some votes would be to call it off before elections and say they don't want to put additional strain on the people. Or put it back at the old rates if they really want some goodwill. That will never happen though because somehow I find Impsbert getting some kind of sadistic pleasure from inflicting hardships on the populace.

Impsbert will calm down upcoming budget. Money gonna spend on projects so it can finish in time for 2020 elections. Next year budget he will sweeten the population with social/welfare giveaways.

2020 most will forget and say pnm bring back the economy.

If the tax is just and reasonable, it's really not a big deal. Many people's concern is more the fear of the unknown and what it's going to be used for. Property tax has been always there as land and building tax, but the way Impsbert brings it across as though he is in his glee to put people under pressure, makes it troubling for many. Seeing what is being done and what is planned to be done with tax dollars adds the resentment that is seen. You say a firm is corrupt , they are the UNC's favourite contractor, and turn around and give them hundreds of millions ? Your main /friend minister who is in charge of the biggest cash cow your next south friend who sells imaginary oil, your minister building that rents to the courts, another one relative's buildings, corruption done? Yeah right.

The Prime Minister says his administration will not be threatened by anyone.

https://www.tv6tnt.com/news/7pmnews/pm- ... 88aa1.html

The Prime Minister says his administration will not be threatened by anyone.

He was speaking today about a threat he says his administration is facing....about the State's shareholding in one commercial because of the State's multibillion dollar bailout of CL Financial and Clico.

And he is promising the Government is not trying to run companies in which it inherited shares via the bailout...shares it is hoping to sell for $4 billion

Since there has been no local government reform, most don't take LGE seriously.

2016 if i recall had the lowest turnout in two decades.

They should merge Local with General elections and done the whole story.

If the Spanish taking a job you wanted or were in the running for, chances are high your problems bigger than than the presence of Spanish speakers in the country.

This is the last year of stress!

Those were the words uttered by Finance Minister, Colm Imbert, as he addressed Barataria constituents at a meeting to formally introduce Kimberly Small, the PNM's contender for Councillor of the district.

You'd be surprised at the number of PNM stooges, sheep and gullible fools there are, after all enough of them were fooled, and continue to be, by this moronic band of incompetent miscreants.

My predictions for upcoming elections

July 15th By-election : PNM wins both seats. They get a minority vote in Barataria but PEP splits the votes.
2019: PNM wins Tobago elections with 8 out of 12 seats. Praised for bringing the Galleon Passage to end Tobago suffering.
2019 again: PNM wins Local Government Elections with 8 seats. PEP splits the vote for UNC which otherwise would be a tie (7-7).
2020: PNM wins the General Elections due to split vote from COP, PEP, and Mikela. They gain 28 seats and change policy for the worse. Kamla blames split vote for loss and begs everyone to come home.
2025: PNM wins the General Elections with less of a majority of 22 seats. Kamla didn't leave causing many to leave the UNC and form a new party alliance with the remnants of the COP, PEP, and Pandays. The new party gets the lion's share of opposition seats and makes UNC almost non-existent. Kamla retires from politics after defeat.
2029: Rowley seeing an impending defeat, chooses not to contest the General Elections, leaves the internal election fight for someone else.
2030: New Opposition party wins with NAR 1986 level of seats, PNM is in disarray and considers reform.

Yeh, so gets comfortable with Rowley, he there for another 12. :drinking: :drinking:

At the current rate they most definitely will not get half of that database.
They do plan to double the amount of assessors, supervisors and valuers though. That would be an interesting development when it happens. The COV didnt yet approve the plans to hire more people, but you could imagine Imbert and West breathing down he neck.
