I'll hold on until the kids and the travelers get theirs. I don't have any immediate plans now. In the meantime I'll continue to do what is required.

If most of our elderly weren't already vaccinated I'd give it to them. Sinopharm isn't that effective for people over 60. We should be distributing vaccines like this:

- AZ or Pfizer for those over 60
- Sinopharm for those between 18 and 59 with no comorbidities, those with comorbidities should be offered AZ or Pfizer.
- 12-18 Pfizer and if/when it's approved by WHO, replace that with Sinopharm

Also, all high exposure persons (i.e. persons who come into contact with lots of people daily as well as teachers) should be given Pfizer or AZ as well.

This is the correct and good idea.

On a side note, the line for AZ this week and next week should ease up. AZ still a very good option. Highly recommend if you are older/sicker like me.

Plus we are supposed to get J&J soon from Africa's Medical Supplies Platform.

TT now has more vaccines than we need. What we need now are willing vaccine recipients.

my gf went yesterday morning to get her first dose of AZ vaccinate.
last night went to check her, she sicker than a newborn puppy with parvo. fever, vomiting, body aches, cold sweat, loss of appetite, & the usual loss of taste & smell.
Went to check her this a.m., she couldn't even get up to see about the kids, thank God one big enough to handle at least some small scenes like making stuff to eat & cleaning up after themselves.right now is level panadol, coconut water & electrolytes, with the occasional small bite of a sandwich, which may or may not stay down.

We agreed that if by tomorrow morning she don't start improving she going to the dr early o'clock.

i think they already approve it for 12 and over

but we need enough AZ to do all that- we don't have enough.

Those are some pretty adverse side effects.

You are aware that the possibility exists that a person who has extreme reactions as those could have had the COVID virus in his/her system and the vaccine has triggered the immune response to the virus.

I had 24 hours of fever and chills after my first AZ vaccy. Once subsided, I felt pretty tired for a few days afterwards.

I got my second shot last week and felt great the day after.

Hope the GF feels better and do see her doctor if the side effects don't subside by tomorrow.

COVID-19NewsAnother report of fake immunisation cards sent to TTPS

Minister of Health Terrence Deyalsingh

The Ministry of Health has forwarded another report to the police on a person selling fake immunisation cards. According to Minister of Health Terrence Deyalsingh, the detailed report was submitted on Monday.

The ministry has already forwarded at least one report to the police within recent weeks.
“We sent another one on Monday of this week where we have good details now. We actually have the person who actually wrote the card. So that has been sent to the police thanks to the whistleblower who came out,” he said during Wednesday’s virtual press conference.

“Let the police investigation take place and hopefully that person would be facing seven years in jail. We take this…very very seriously.”
Two weeks ago the police service set up a specialised unit within the Fraud Squad to treat specifically these matters. A person found guilty of supplying, purchasing or facilitating this offence could face imprisonment for anywhere between seven years or life depending on the nature of the breach according to the Forgery Act.

This falls squarely in your garden.

At what point you mentioned that you could not take the shot and get a fake immunisation card, since people in T&T can get fake license and other fake documents.

dropping these off and running away

https://www.politico.eu/article/herd-im ... a-variant/

Herd immunity ‘not a possibility’ with Delta variant

Head of Oxford Vaccine Group says vaccination won’t stop spread altogether.

LONDON — Herd immunity is “not a possibility” with the current spread of the Delta variant due to it still infecting vaccinated individuals, the head of the Oxford Vaccine Group Andrew Pollard said Tuesday.

Pollard, who was involved in the development of the Oxford/AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine, told the U.K.'s All-Party Parliamentary Group on coronavirus that, unlike measles — where 95 percent vaccination of the population would stop transmission — the same couldn’t be said for coronavirus spread by the Delta variants.

“That does mean anyone still unvaccinated at some point will meet the virus,” he warned. Pollard said that vaccines may slow the process of transmission, with data indicating that people who are vaccinated and test positive seem to be shedding the virus for a slightly shorter period of time. However, given the circulation of the highly transmissible Delta variant vaccination wouldn’t stop spread altogether.

https://www.bmj.com/content/374/bmj.n1960

The bottom line is that delta—a variant with distinct mutations making it much more transmissible, blunting immune protection as much as 10-fold—poses a challenge to the vaccines currently used. But in most people the vaccine induced levels of neutralising antibodies are large enough that even a 10-fold drop keeps them well protected.

So, while it’s sobering to see cases occurring in fully vaccinated people, their protection is holding up well, as judged by numbers of hospital admissions and fatalities relative to what might have been. As Iwasaki puts it: the message should still be to get vaccinated as soon as possible.
