If you are to ship a TV, it's best to ship it strapped to a pallet, especially for a TV that size. Most, if not all sea freight forwarders will not insure a TV unless it's palletised. And of course there is a cost to do the latter.
A TV of that size is more susceptible to cracking due to wobbling while in transit. If you ship as is without palletising, it's guaranteed to break (This happened to me already) and I had no recourse from the sea freight forwarder.
If you go for air freight with a skybox courier, I'd say it's hit or miss even with insurance and free returns, as is the case with Aeropost. I brought a 55" TV with Aeropost last year and it was cracked. I was able to return and recover all my Aeropost charges and then get the refund from Amazon, but due to the value of the TV and skybox charges, it took some time.
From my personal experiences, I won't ship a large TV. I brought a 32" and 24" for my folks on two separate occasions and they were received in tact. But those were small. A 32" would be the limit of the size I'd air freight.
My 2¢ is to buy the TV locally. You also benefit from the warranty. Some places may even be able to custom order your TV but I'm sure you can get a 85" TV to buy locally.scotty_buttons wrote:scotty_buttons wrote:What’s the best and most reasonably priced courier to import a 75-85 inch tv with insurance?
Anyone?
Thanks for the input.
That is exactly my fear given the size of the tv.
I’m also finding it very difficult to find companies to offer insurance as well.
Haven’t been able to source anything favourable above 70inch locally and I’m very particular with the quality of tv and value for money.
After doing research, most, if not all of the TVs I want aren’t available locally unfortunately.
Actually I was looking at doing the same. Saw an 85" on Amazon I wanted and then eventually saw CircuitZone i believe selling the same thing.
When I compared the prices, it was off by only $1,400 or so after I applied customs and duties fees etc.
There are some persons even on this forum that source them for you.

Think that answers my earlier question. That sounds like internal hard drives and portable external usb drives are in fact subject to duties and tax.

As of recent (last three months) they’ve been shipping things faster than most other skyboxes in my experience

If your order is shipped in more than one shipment but under one Invoice how do you pre-alert these?
Do you edit the invoice to only show the items contained in each shipment or do you just upload the same whole invoice for each shipment and customs will decipher the necessary information?
Thanks.
