Slartibartfast wrote:I think people don't realise that the speed limit is a limit and not a target. Sadly everyone treats it like a target when the limit is well below what the majority of drivers, comfortably and safely, regularly drive at.

i.e. If they raise it to 120 doesn't mean everybody going to drive at 120. Just those that get charged for driving over 120 going to know that they have no defence if they caught.

Two critical words..everybody wants an increase in speed limit, but how many can calmly, comfortably and safely control their vehicles right through..?? Which brings me to disagree somewhat with your second point. I'm not a psychologist, but I'm inclined to believe that setting it at 120 could be a bad idea as drivers do just that..treat the LIMIT like a TARGET, so they see everyone whooshing past at 120+ and they want to try it too..and then they can't handle it and the outcome is terrible. Seeing how people drive when the legal limit is 80, I can't imagine how it would be if they could legally hit 120..maybe 100 is a safer number and crack down on vehicles over a certain weight class speeding and/or using the overtaking lane and maybe we'll be okay.

Thais a Hilux Revo? I see airbag deploy, insurance write-off? That front right tire looks like the treads worn down.

That junction at the intersection of the Southern Main Road and South Trunk Road by Paria Suites is very dangerous.

Down there real ridiculous. Pot holes. No lines. Road direction change. Undulations. No signs. I don't think government needs to award a new contractor just to deal with dangerous spots like this one. Lighting also poor.

Hmmmm. I thought it was just me thought they were crap. Whats a good set of tires to get?

What size you looking at? Are you willing to use A/T?

Smooth tyres only have poor grip in the wet. Figured that it was a bad overtake... The intersection is a little ways off from where those vehicles are.

It's a lost cause..I remember hearing people say old(er) people (and women) should get cheaper insurance because they're safer drivers, when experience shows they are usually the ones carrying out the biggest pack of toots on the roads..I've seen many a senior..or woman..or senior woman..relaxing in the overtaking lane, at a comfortable 70.. Re-education might not help much, because I don't think conditioning can be broken with education and old habits die hard..when we learn how to do something as simple as use..a..roundabout..then maybe we start discussing an increase in speed limit..

My $0.02.

well its based on risk of actually causing accidents, not mere annoyance. so if they driving slower but not crashing then they get a lower rate

See??

Probably While on the fone also.

I make one reverse doing the same ting. Fuss she ent business she swerve into my lane to overtake a taxi that stopped in front of her. She had no fkin chance to make it but still make the drive. I was like... oh hell no. Check my rearview and the drivers support me by jamming right up in my bumper. I wasnt reversing to let her pass anyway. You know fkin woman still talkin on the fone and refusing to reverse. It then became apparent that a reverse drive was too difficult for her.

These hilux diplomats on their important peace missions and the phone talkers while driving are my mortal enemies on the road. Hate them with a passion. U does see it how talkin on the fone des make them fk up the whole flow on the road. They dont be paying attention to what they doing properly(driving) and dont realize the trail of 'almost accident' they leave in their path.

Really wish ttps would crack down on cellphone users while driving. Its getting really out of hand now and it is a serious ting not something to slack off on.

That only looking bad . Once you remove all the damaged parts it looks totally different. That only taking two days to repair once you have all the parts in hand.
And Pugboy, I did try to find out who is the owner, all you do is get any police friend to enter the number in any police computer and the report of the accident with all the info is available 8-)

Well the Maxis and Police van supposed to be on the PBR, the 4th vehicle (looked like a red Kia Carnival or one of those style of vehicles) didn't appear to have a PBR pass.

There need's to be a more stringent policing of the PBR by non approved users. Its easier money than speed traps for the Government.

Why though?
When the police enforce the law there's an uproar over it.
