Currently my phone is on 3.1.2 with blackra1n JB. My phone died and suddenly when I reach home to charge it my phones back to where it was orginally, locked. I see the message slide to unlock and when I do it says only emergency calls only. I have no idea how this happend but I tired restoring it using a 3.1.2 firmware file but when it reaches the end it kinda sticks on the "restoring firmware" part and then after a good while gives an error. Anyways I went on to JB it with blackra1n and when I do, my wifi is disabled or grayed out. If anyone has experienced the same problem i'll appreiciate any help. Thanks

I think you should give blackra1n 1udfr and put your device into DFU mode and restore a virgin 3.1.2 IPSW and then use redsn0w 0.94 :)
If that doesnt work and u just want wifi, try out Push Doctor since Pushfix is no longer there or applicable.

Now that is something epic, I'll try googling this up and get back at ya.

Both but same result, funny thing is I got it to restore to work once and when I went in my modem firmware, IMEI, Bluetooth and everything related to the base band was blank. I have a strong feeling that the baseband might of gotten corrupted worse case the chip might be defective. Im upgrading to 3.1.3 as a last resort and if that doesn't work see if I can concoct a story for my parents to tell Apple reps why they should warranty my phone ahah.

After talking to a guy who experienced the samething, even read the logs the part related to the baseband isnt responding anymore..whenever I try to jailbreak it takes real real long cus its trying to ping the baseband but it doesn't get any response..whenever I do get in and thats after ignoring the error and blackra1ning I can't get anything because of the damaged baseband I get no wifi, no service, no bluetooth..it doesn't even read my IMEI number properly. I tried upgrading to 3.1.3 which would technically give me a new baseband rewrite and the same error/ DFU or not. I guess i'll just try to see if I can use the warranty and get it changed hopefully :/

edit: btw heres a funny rant of the samething happening to someone else

in essence FuzzyBand downgrade your f/w so try it :) but b4 u go 3.1.3 if cydia magically appears and u somehow get it to initialize, you can use cyder2 to install deb files. Then hopefully u have an old bootloader

I thinking about restoring mines yes, b4 4.0. I think not LOL

The case does seem to be somewhat practical but I think it will take away from the natural aesthetics of the iPad. I've got mines just about a month now and hardly ever open my MacBook only when I need to do some development work. The onscreen keyboard works great, that's what I'm using now to type this reply :) I think you have to uses one to really appreciate the 'form factor', don't think that case will fly with most owners. The original apple case works great for now.

The iPad 3G is completely sold out at 50 Apple retail stores in the US, according to an AppleInsider report.

Analyst Gene Munster with Piper Jaffray said his team contacted representatives at 50 Apple retail stores and found that 74 percent of them were sold out of all models of the iPad, with the Wi-Fi model available in 26 percent of stores, and the 3G version sold out. It's been the same story for Apple since the iPad 3G first launched on April 30 in the U.S.

The typical wait time is about 4 to 7 days to receive an iPad.

In Sex and the City 2, Carrie Bradshaw is switching from Mac to Windows. The movie features product placement from HP instead of Apple with the company dedicating an entire site to its campaign.

During the HBO television series Carrie, Miranda, Charlotte, and Aleksander Petrovsky were all seen using Macs. In the first film Warner Bros. and New Line Cinema even put together a site called, "Carrie Bradshaw's MacBook Pro".

Now it would seem that HP has stuck some sort of deal to have its products featured. Sarah Jessica Parker even stars in a commercial for HP notebooks which you can view below...

Starting June 1, new AT&T iPhone customers who wish to cancel their contract with the wireless carrier will need to pay a $325 early termination fee, up from the existing $175 cost.

The new fee will apply to all smartphones, including Apple's iPhone, as well as connected netbooks. For feature and messaging phones, the fees will drop to $150, according to Dow Jones Newswires.

Though there has been speculation that AT&T could lose exclusivity of Apple's iPhone over the next year, an AT&T spokesperson reportedly said that the increase in the ETF to $325 was not related to one specific device.

"The changes come amid increased regulatory scrutiny and class-action lawsuits over the issue," the report said. "The Federal Communications Commission has expressed concern that onerous fees make it difficult for consumers to switch their service. Wireless carriers argue the fees are necessary to recoup the costs incurred by the subsidies they provide to lower the initial cost of the handset."

The change follows a previous move by competitor Verizon, which began charging a $350 ETF for smartphone users. Google and T-Mobile also charged a combined $550 fee for those who canceled their contract on the Nexus One. Both of those recent developments have brought ETFs under scrutiny from the U.S. Federal Communications Commission.

AT&T and Apple offer the iPhone at a subsidized rate, starting at $99 for the iPhone 3G, with a two-year contract for the device. Starting in March, Apple began selling contract-free iPhones at a much higher price, as it has done in previous years, to help clear out inventory before the launch of new hardware.

In addition to recouping lost money from a canceled contract, ETFs are also designed to deter customers from jumping to another network. The timing of the ETF increase will undoubtedly result in speculation about the potential of the iPhone becoming available on a carrier other than AT&T.

Apple is expected to introduce its next-generation iPhone when it kicks off the annual Worldwide Developers Conference in San Francisco on June 7.

Rumors of a Verizon iPhone have been persistent since March, when The Wall Street Journal reported that Apple is working on two new iPhones, including a CDMA-capable model that would be compatible with Verizon's network. That report alleged that CDMA iPhones would not go into mass production until September.

When he was asked this week about the prospect of the iPhone on other carriers, Ralph de la Vega, president and CEO of AT&T's Mobility and Consumer Markets division, said he isn't concerned. He said his company's family talk and business discount plans do a good job of retaining customers.

Apple has officially ended the 'Get a Mac' campaign and is now directing visitors to a new page entitled, "Why You'll Love a Mac".

Justin Long (Mac) reported in April that the campaign might be over, "You know, I think they might be done. In fact, I heard from John, I think they’re going to move on. I can’t say definitively, which is sad, because not only am I going to miss doing them, but also working with John. I’ve become very close with him, and he’s one of my dearest, greatest friends. It was so much fun to go do that job, because there’s not a lot to it for me. A lot of it is just keeping myself entertained between takes, and there’s no one I’d rather do it with than John."

The new page outlines nine reasons "Why You'll Love a Mac". It's possible that we could see commercials for each of these reasons.

If you want to reminisce by watching all the Get a Mac ads, check these out.

Android is now available for installation on both the iPhone 2G and the iPhone 3G thanks to the hard work of planetbeing and those assisting him.

You can download the binaries here: iPhone 2G, iPhone 3G

Planetbeing has also written instructions for installing Android which you can find here

The steps are basically the same as before, except you can put the firmware in a directory on the iPhone OS data partition. This means that you don’t have to modify the ext2 partition as before. One thing I didn’t mention is that you could perform the installation on OS X without a Linux VM if you recompile loadibec and oibc. Otherwise, the directions are the same.

Congratulations to all those who contributed to making this possible.

A couple screenshots of the firmware used to field test video calling have been posted online by BGR. Unfortunately, the screenshots don't show the actually video calling interface; however, if authentic they do provide more evidence of the feature.

Like we need any more proof, right? Even so, the more confirmation the better we say, and one of our Apple guys has sent us in some shots of the field test firmware for the new iPhone HD (or whatever it is), and we’ve got them right here for you.

Well I’ll be damned. I was just about to go to sleep when we got an email from one of FSM’s readers, Stefano, telling us about iPhodroid and easy automated way to install Android OS on your iPhone 2G and 3G. As you know, PlanetBeing released the binaries for both iPhone 2G and iPhone 3G, but the installation process is most certainly not accessible to everyone. If you feel lucky, you can do it manually. If you want a shortcut, read after the break….

First things first…
Although this port does everything that you expect your smartphone to be able to do, it isn’t usable for day-to-day activities just yet–I haven’t implemented any power-management functions, so a fully charged iPhone running Android will last only an hour or so.

A few bugs and performance issues remain, too, so while the phone will be usable, it won’t be fast. If you do something unexpected (such as forcing the iPhone off), there is a small chance that you may end up restoring your device. However, it is impossible for any bugs to brick or disable your iPhone permanently.

Finally, media syncing is not working, so loading your media onto your phone is kind of a pain. I’m working as hard as I can, though, and I expect to fix these issues soon.

iPhodroid…
The advantage of this app is that it will automagically transfer all the files to your iDevice, and keeps the device on safe, because no instalaltion is processed. But it is only available for Mac users. However, if you use iPhodroid, you will no longer need a Linux machine or a Linux virtual machine.

NOTE: You should disable the auto-lock on your iPhone. To do this, go to Settings>General>Auto-lock and set it to ‘Never’.

Clearly a white front plate was not enough to satisfy curiosity. Though we aren't able to verify this ourselves, Chinese site Apple.pro has a couple shots of what it claims to be the white next-gen iPhone, almost fully assembled (the front plate looks like it hasn't been snapped in all the way) and casually lounging next to the black model we've gazed upon so many times at this point. Is this enough for us to trust and comfortably change our palette preferences? Nah, but surely 15 days until expected confirmation can't be too excruciating of a wait.

Guys you all noticed a problem when updating callerid and format fix? It doesn't want to and it crashes cydia. Mine and the 2G. The 2G doesn't have it even(which was strange cuz my format is good on it  so it worked without it all this time) are you all getting this update issue as well?

As expected, the first day of Apple's annual Worldwide Developers Conference will include a keynote from Steve Jobs, when it is believed the chief executive will introduce the fourth-generation iPhone.

Apple announced on Monday that Jobs will deliver the keynote on Monday, June 7 at 10 a.m. Pacific Time. WWDC 2010 runs from June 7 to June 11 at Moscone West in San Francisco, Calif. The five-day conference will include the first-ever iPad development sessions and hands-on working labs for iPhone OS 4, as well as Mac OS X core technology labs.

Apple said Monday that the event will focus on providing advanced content for skilled developers in five key technology tracks: Application Frameworks, Internet & Web, Graphics & Media, Developers Tools, and Core OS. Apple's engineers will deliver over 100 solutions-oriented technical sessions and labs, and the primary focus will be iPhone OS 4, suggesting an advanced preview of Mac OS X 10.7 may not be a part of the event.

Just 8 days after this year's WWDC was announced, it sold out. San Francisco's Moscone West center can only accommodate around 5,000 attendees. This year's ticket prices also increased from $1,259 to $1,599.

In years past, Apple has used the first day of WWDC to introduce a new iPhone model. Last year, WWDC 2009 ran June 8 through June 12, and included the introduction of the iPhone 3GS.

This year, a leaked prototype of the fourth-generation iPhone has shown the hardware will have a redesigned outer shell, and add new capabilities like a forward-facing camera for video chat, and camera flash to improve picture lighting.

With his keynote on June 7, Jobs will be busy at the start of the month. The Apple co-founder is scheduled to appear at the D: All Things Digital conference in New York less than a week earlier, on June 1. Jobs will kick off the annual conference hosted by The Wall Street Journal with an on-stage interview.

------

Morgan Stanley expects Apple to drop the price of the iPhone 3GS to $99 once the new iPhone is released next month, according to Fortune.

Morgan Stanley's Katy Huberty raised her Apple price target to $310 per share saying that investors continue to underestimate iPhone share gains, better-than-expected iPad demand, the growing Chinese market, and increased penetration of the corporate market.

Huberty also raised her estimated 2011 iPhone sales to 61.5 million units based on a survey that showed:

● iPhone customers planning to upgrade rose from 18% in Nov. 2009 to 58% in March 2010. Huberty estimates that the upgrade rate could yield 19 million upgrade units in 2011.
● Huberty expects Apple to cut the price of the iPhone 3GS to $99. She also says if Apple and AT&T could cut monthly service costs to $75 from about $90 today, demand for iPhones would increase by another 7 million units per year.
● 16.8% of Verizon subscribers say they are "very likely" to purchase an iPhone if it becomes available on their network. This could add another 8 million iPhones per year.

Image

------

Several rumors in the past few weeks have pointed out to the possibility of the next generation iPhone to be available on Verizon from September this year.

However, if the latest rumors are to be believed, customers may not get a Verizon iPhone anytime soon but they also may not have to wait so long for AT&T's network exclusivity to end.

Image According to TheTechUpdate, Apple might launch the next generation iPhone on Sprint in June this summer. According to their source, who claims to be an employee at Best Buy, also notes that shelf display of the device could begin "within a week or two". The source claims:

"I work in an electronics store that has a mobile phone store within it. I can confirm that Sprint will be carrying the iPhone beginning in June. They’ve begun to grease the wheels for advertising. There is no news in regards to a Verizon version however."
TheTechUpdate has also posted screenshots of the email conversation they had with their source.

Image

Image

The Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) is just a couple of weeks away. The latest speculations provide an additional dimension to recent rumors that Apple may be announcing an end to AT&T's iPhone exclusivity with the launch of the fourth generation iPhone.

However, skeptics have questioned the credibility of these rumors considering that Apple's original agreement with AT&T was signed for a period of five years. The Best Buy employee claims that Apple may have cut short the duration of the agreement in exchange for AT&T's iPad deal that was announced earlier this year. MacRumors points out that Best Buy employees are not privy to insider information from Apple and hence may not carry enough credibility. Also, a rumored "shelf display" next week appears very unlikely considering that the next generation iPhone is at least two weeks away from launch.

Nevertheless, an iPhone on Sprint could be an exciting proposition for customers looking for an alternative to the congested AT&T network. It would also be interesting if you consider that HTC EVO 4G, which has generated a lot of interest, will be available on Sprint's 4G network from June 4.
