Recent headlines say otherwise. I'm being realistic, why keep fighting if Russia is eventually going to win.

It's existential for them, they're not giving up.

If I were a Ukrainian, I would leave asap, firetruck fighting now.

Lidia Stepanivna Lomikovska and her family decided to leave the front-line town of Ocheretyne, in the eastern Donetsk region, last week after Russian troops entered it and fighting intensified.

Russians have been advancing in the area, pounding Kyiv’s depleted, ammunition-deprived forces with artillery, drones, and bombs.

“I woke up surrounded by shooting all around — so scary,” Lomikovska said in a video interview posted by the National Police of Donetsk region.

In the chaos of the departure, Lomikovska became separated from her son and two daughters-in-law, including one, Olha Lomikovska, injured by shrapnel days earlier. The younger family members took to back routes, but Lydia wanted to stay on the main road.

With a cane in one hand and steadying herself using a splintered piece of wood in the other, she walked all day without food and water to reach Ukrainian lines.

Describing her journey, the nonagenarian said she had fallen twice and was forced to stop to rest at some points, even sleeping along the way before waking up and continuing her journey.

“Once I lost balance and fell into weeds. I fell asleep … a little, and continued walking. And then, for the second time, again, I fell. But then I got up and thought to myself: “I need to keep walking, bit by bit,'” Lomikovska said.

Pavlo Diachenko, acting spokesman for the National Police of Ukraine in the Donetsk region, said Lomikovska was saved when Ukrainian soldiers spotted her walking along the road in the evening. They handed her over to the “White Angels,” a police group that evacuates citizens living on the front line, who then took her to a shelter for evacuees and contacted her relatives.

“I survived that war,’ she said referring to World War II. “I had to go through this war too, and in the end, I am left with nothing.

“That war wasn’t like this one. I saw that war. Not a single house burned down. But now – everything is on fire,” she said to her rescuer.

In the latest twist to the story, the chief executive of one of Ukraine’s largest banks announced on his Telegram channel that the bank would purchase a house for the pensioner.

“Monobank will buy Lydia Stepanivna a house and she will surely live in it until the moment when this abomination disappears from our land,” Oleh Horokhovskyi said.

Once again you all have a really weird definiton of winning.
Russia is losing a thousand men a day plus the equipment losses.
Thier long term GDP growth prospects at the positive side will be less than 1% annually
They are locked out of western banking and financial markets for the foresable future
There will be no reparations since they are the aggressors. The regions of Ukraine they are seizing they are decimating and they are going to need rebuilding if the Russians get to keep them.

Russia struck a supermarket in Kharkiv this morning. Saturdays are the busiest days for those.
But there are simpletons In here who stan Russia while trying to take a moral high ground on Gaza.

All they really hate is the West.

You think I support Russia? I don't, I just hate to see the bias in how western media is reporting this war.

I also fully support Israel though recently my support of them has waned.

Doesn't mean I hate the west. I hate western arrogance for sure.

I support Russia.

There is a difference between collateral damage and targeting an area intentionally for the collateral damage.

The reports of civilian casualties in russisn strikes compared to Ukranian strikes is chalk and cheese. Ukraine tends to target civilian infrastructure.

Then compare to hamas and idf, even a greater disparity.

This just doesn’t make sense. Russia doesn’t often hit civilian targets but it does occasionally like the hit on that busy street in Odessa but using a missile just to kill a few civilians just doesn’t match their MO. You could do the same damage with artillery. If you want to kill civilians just fire some MLRS.

This feels like the days after the Kharkiv hotel strike. Later on obituaries for high ranking military personnel came out, confirming the validity of the strike.

In most cases they're not directly targeting civilians, it's a war though, obviously lots of innocents have died, but it's not at all like Israel though, who have killed more civilians in 7 months than Russia has killed in 2.5 years.

Anyway, back to why Russian victory is inevitable.

German chancellor called for a summit to discus peace for Ukraine. Brics called for a summit to discuss things the same period.
More counties attending the brics, and the eu summit might get canceled.

Before that, arab league supported by Russia and china called a summit to discuss gaza. Did not concern usa or Europe. Those may attend any ways, but it shows the confidence the rest of the world has with the collective west.

Nearly 5,000 Ukrainian Inmates Volunteer to Fight
Following the passing of Ukraine’s May 17 law to allow certain categories of prisoners to volunteer to serve in the military it was assessed that up to 20,000 would be eligible.

Hypocritical of the west who condemned Russia for doing to the same thing, no consistency and moral integrity by the west again.

Many Western commentators have suggested that this has echoes of the policy in Russia that was begun in the fall of 2022 by the Wagner PMC that freed tens of thousands of prisoners, no matter the crimes for which they were sentenced, with promises of pardons for fighting in President Vladimir Putin’s war in Ukraine. ...

Moscow’s version allowed serial killers, rapists, pedophiles and other serious criminals to receive a “get out of jail free card and, initially, a complete pardon after serving as little as six months on the front line. This was amended earlier in 2024 as the public outcry in Russia grew after several high profile violent crimes were committed by returning releasees.

Ukraine has set limits on who could qualify. Only prisoners with fewer than three years left on their sentence can apply, with mobilized prisoners being granted parole rather than a pardon.

Among those not eligible to serve are those found guilty of premeditated murder, rape, sexual violence or sexual crimes against minors, those involved in serious corruption, crimes against national security, and those who have held official office, including former MPs and ministers.

A Ukrainian official said Zelenskyy has grown more “emotional and nervous” over the situation on the battlefield and what they say the president sees as Washington’s eagerness to start negotiations with Russia. Zelenskyy “thinks they want the war to go away before the [US] election” - FT

I actually feel sorry for Zelenskyy now, he's realising what a sheit ally the US can be sometimes. Probably lots of talks happening behind the scenes that he's not being invited to.

Well the last president of South Vietnam sent his regards.

The US of A weapons failed to make an impact in Ukraine. They gave Zelensky 'basket' and crappy weapons to fight Russia. Maybe their weapons performed good in Afghanistan, Grenada, Nicaragua, and killed unarmed old men, women and children in Palestine but is not up to the task against a real army. Mother Russia has shown that US of A weapons has been a disaster for Ukraine and a possible defeat.

Ukraine War rips veil off of US weapons superiority.
The $60,000 Switchblade drone, produced in limited numbers due to cost, proved useless against armored targets and was quickly discarded by Ukrainian troops in favor of $700 Chinese commercial models ordered online.
The $10 million Abrams tank not only proved distressingly vulnerable to Russian attack drones but in any case broke down repeatedly and was soon withdrawn from combat.
According to Maria Berlinskaya, a pioneer in Ukraine’s use of drones and head of the country’s aerial reconnaissance support center, stated that “most Western systems have proven to be [worthless]” thanks to Russian jamming.

Kissinger knew he was a piece of sheit, history shows us the truth.

Now I don't actually blame the US for their past actions, they've facilitated the prosperity we have today in the west. But to think they're the good guys is daft and ignorant.

Biden secretly gave Ukraine permission to strike inside Russia with US weapons

It’s a major reversal that will help Ukraine to better defend its second-largest city.
