Nice shots Jonathon, if it was a little clearer, you could use those in a tourism brochure.

An Ikelite housing

Canon S3-IS

A strobe setup similar to this, but using a DS-51 strobe instead..

And a wide angle adapter

I'm thinking about upgrading soon to a SX10-IS or SX20IS setup using a larger strobe. Ideally, I wanted to get a housing for my SLR but that alone is more expensive than the entire setup (camera and housing) I'm using right now!

^ yes DSLR submarine setup s are oftem more expensive than the camera

it is much more cost effective to use a prosumer point and shoot for underwater photography

lighting is everything!

Boy.... The housing alone for an SLR is in the range of 1400USD, While the cost of an SX10-IS AND Housing is only 1200USD or so..

So my choice was easy

the quality is good enough for the price compromise, and the strobe especially seems to work well!

As a comparison, these were taken with an Olympus 1050SW. Taken in clear water in Cozumel, with subjects between maybe 2ft to 7ft away. These are the better shots. Zooming to over 7ft or so and the subject loses clarity. I've darkened these slightly in Lightroom, as colours looked a bit washed out before.

^ cool!

I have an Olympus SW too - but a 700 series and it takes pretty decent underwater pics too in clear waters
