Yeah I get that a bus system is much cheaper but a train system is the Best idea and a true first world idea. Yes it will take time to build but it was a great vision.
Imbert was more useless than Cadiz but at least imbert had some sort of vision. Its a damn Shame that manning didn't start that rapid rail sooner he was just all talk as well.
A great idea but again all talk. He had so much years to do it but refuses to in fact was the same PNM that scrapped our first train system to begin with. Just imagine this country had a train at one time.
I actually want RASC to address this and tell me which retard taught it was a good idea to abolish our once great train system. Yes we get that jokers like cadiz does exist and manning had by far the best idea but explain why manning never carried out the building of the rapid rail and explain why the PNM demolished the first train system.
All manning had to do was start the project and kamla would have been forced to carry it out
RASC can't address you on the abolishment of the last train service we had .
Hes a johnny come lately.
The abolishment of the train service was a result of a PNM smart man and the car dealers at that time to push for it.
The the smart man convinced the pnm to get rid of it, he lined himself up to sell the assets as scrap steel and the trains to Brazil . The guy made a mint.
The car companies push for it to get new car sales . It was as simple as that.
All the other British colonies that had train services held on to it and improve what the brits had left. Only Trinidad made a mess if it.

Dude the moment PNM got rid of caroni. Ah set pnm ppl began ripping out caroni rail tracks and trailers for scrap. Millions was made from the scrap where a PNM insider spent not one cent to get the steel and made a mint from the sale.

That just makes suburban areas more congested and harder for employees who travel to get there.
Wait, what?
Putting a Ministry/passport/id/BIR etc office anywhere along the bus route would negate that argument.

The one thing pnm good at is scraping trains.

Crackpot wrote:toyota2nr wrote:But which government closed down Caroni and the train system?
Which government OPENED CARONI 1975 Ltd and gave us a better system than some old train that woulda take half the budget to make tracks and buy new ones
It is a fact. Panday mishandled Caroni. The closure of Caroni was started by the Panday government, which was ready to dismantle it and sell it off. The budgetary allocations needed to revive the company were not forthcoming, and the company went from bad to worse.
The dismantling of Caroni 1975, Ltd started under his (Panday's) administration.
