Local Teen Models

Arouca River Shoot Pt 2

These images were taken deep in the forest of Arouca at a river.
The youngest member of the group, Keyony said she would like to become a model so badly that she dragged her mother, father and baby brother all the way to Arouca, Trinidad and Tobago on a strenuous hike to the location.

Model Sharon who is always a good sport came prepared to hike. Model Lysca and her mother Patricia were great also. Kadyne and Patricia got their creative juices flowing with the wrapping of the models. it was a good team effort.

The video was shot on location at a river deep in the forest of Arouca Trinidad and Tobago. After a long walk which seemed to be leading into nowhere our tour guides took us to this beautiful location that only villagers knew about

Local TrinBagoian

Reeanna Harrilal, President of The Voice of Lupus Foundation

http://www.thevoiceoflupus.com

"I may have Lupus, but Lupus will never have me"

Lupus is neither infectious nor contagious. There is no cure.

Systemic Lupus Erythematous is a chronic auto-immune disease; a type of self-allergy whereby the patient’s immune system creates antibodies which, instead of protecting the body from bacteria and viruses, attack the person’s own body tissues. This causes symptoms of extreme fatigue, joint pain, muscle aches, anemia, general malaise, and can result in the destruction of vital organs. It is a disease with many manifestations and each person’s profile or list of symptoms is different. Lupus can mimic other diseases, such as multiple sclerosis and rheumatoid arthritis, making it difficult to diagnose.

Currently there is no single test that can definitely say whether a person has lupus or not. A diagnosis can only be achieved through a comprehensive examination and consideration of symptoms, along with their history.

People diagnosed with lupus normally remain under medical care with continuing medication. Many symptoms have less impact as a result, but side effects can often occur. Lupus can adversely influence the lives of those who suffer the illness, their families and friends

Public access was also opened for those wanting to catch trains to San Fernando or POS. The station was closed in 1965, only one year after the Pointe a Pierre jetty was commissioned and the need for transportation of imported goods to Pointe a Pierre from Port of Spain had virtually disappeared.

Local Parang 2014 ~ Local Cassava Bread

Parang lovers from across Trinidad congregated at the San Antonio Green Market in Santa Cruz last Sunday to kick off the Christmas season with lively performances of the popular festive music and other attractions related to the history of parang. The event was sponsored for the second year by Pan-American Life Insurance Company of Trinidad and Tobago, a member company of the Pan-American Life Insurance Group (PALIG)

Image
Lara Brothers brought patrons to their feet at the Pan-American Life Sponsored Planting Parang at the San Antonio Green Market, Santa Cruz

Patrons of the four and a half hour event were able to enjoy the lush greenery of the market and celebrate the influence of the Spaniards who were among the valley’s earliest inhabitants. As the spectacularly sunny day gave way to the early evening, guests danced to the infectious music of the cuatro, maracas and other parang instruments.

Carib Community demonstrate the making of Cassava Bread to the crowds at the Pan-American Life Sponsored Planting Parang held at the San Antonio Green Market, Santa Cruz

Los Alumnos de San Juan and the Lara Brothers belted out the crowd favourites while Robert Munro and friends along with Venezuelan maestro and music professor, Raul Landaeta thrilled the crowd with true parang classics.

In addition to the music, the Planting Parang offered a unique opportunity for those in attendance to learn about the history of parang in Trinidad and Tobago thanks to the Parang Workshop given by Los Alumnos de San Juan before their musical performance. Another popular demonstration was given by Carib community who made cassava bread fresh and from scratch on a cast iron skillet.

Cassava bread was not the only food on offer though. Guests were treated to a range of gastronomic delights that included emapandas, arepas and barbeque pork along with fresh fruit juices, coconut water and cane juice squeezed on demand.
